Dean, my friend, to tell you the truth I am afraid of you depiction in your poetry, maybe because of the horrifying pictorials or simply I don't understand it yet. Yes, Paul, you are right, my friend. All I am saying here is that we should not fear death, it is inevitable. It's more of a warning, to live your life today, to the fullest, and to stop worrying about the things you can not change.

Hi Dean
What a grim 5-7-5 poem! I'm afraid the music didn't do it for me, but I'd love to know how you do that.
Your poem, picture of the Reaper, and fine author notes were enough for me. I wonder if people believe in folklore as much today as in centuries ago? It intrigues me. Surely ghost stories have their roots in folklore.
Your poem got me thinking about the 1959 Walt Disney movie, "Darby O'Gill and the Little People". The part where the Death Coach came for Darby scared me to death as a little kid! (I would have been about ten years old when it hit the theatres). The dark coach, whether seen or heard, was a harbinger of death... a warning of imminent death to either oneself or a close relative. The belief goes that once it has come to Earth it can never return empty. How creepy is that? Your reaper is no different. Somebody take the scythe from his bony clutch!

Hah, thank you, Kimbob. I remember that movie. More recently, the movie, 'Meet Joe Black', has a similar message, where Brad Pitt is the Grim Reaper, personified, and Anthony Hopkins is the man he's come to claim. It certainly presents an interesting scenario...
