This was absolutely brilliant, Dean, and puts the rest of us to shame, my friend, yes shame!!!

Such evocative language, such vibrant sensationalism, breathes the fire into our blood and makes it race with the Celtic warriors of old--excellent!

Thanks, Alex, but do you want to know a secret?

S-S-S-S-s-s-s-h-h-h-hhhhhhhh... Come a bit closer, so no one else can hear me...

I was inspired by your fabulous story, "The Golden Menace" when I wrote it. No lie. It's just that I love the history of the Celts and their struggles long ago, so, I penned the poem around their plight.

And, as far as putting anyone to shame on FS, that's a pretty profound statement. There are so many talented poets and writers of prose on this website, you included! Thanks so much again, my friend...

Hey Dean, where do I sign up? 'Cause I'm certainly not interested in fighting against those frightening looking muthas'. I bet that WAS fun to pen. It has a great flow in the "call-to-arms" that keeps the read moving. I really enjoyed this one, Bill

Hi Dean,
A wonderful piece of writing The rhyme and style were brilliant and evocative of celtic wars from so long ago. great stuff and the fact that they painted their bodies with the celtic designs, is very interesting. It still is war and violence which I absolutely hate, but this does not take away from the creative brilliance of your poem.

Well done. Mary

Thank you very much, Jackarrie, and you're absolutely right, it is war, and violence. However, unlike many of the fictional horrors I often write about, these brave people rose up to squash invading hordes form various parts of the globe, and it actually happened.

Thanks very much for your wonderful review!

A powerful epic of a call to arms for a noble purpose. Full rhyme of AABB throughout six quatrains that roll strong with flow from the reader's tongue. Excellent work.

Thanks so much for that enthusiastic and encouraging response to this one, Christopher. I had reservations about this 'pictapoem' format at first. But, I love a challenge, and I like to think outside the norms, or, that proverbial "box", as it were.

Thanks again for your fantastic review, my friend!

Hi Dean! Incredible, loved this so much. I live very near the border with Scotland, some would say on the wrong side. Scotland is such a wonderful, beautiful place and my family are from the borders. I'm probably descended from sheep rustlers and blackmailers, LOL! This reminds me of the film, Braveheart. At times I don't like being English for the effect we've had on other nations and consider myself British (English and Scottish). I visit Scotland a lot, have lived there and have got good friends there. A lot of Scots live where I live. The rhyme and style were brilliant and evocative of the wars from so long ago. Remarkable stuff and great to read for me from a personal point of view. I'll show this to some of my Scottish friends at home if you don't mind? All the best,
Pete :)

Please, share away Pete, my friend. I'd be deeply honored....
I've always wanted to go to Scotland, to walk along the moors where so many legends have been born. Perhaps, one day...

Thanks again for that fantastic review and the wonderful comments.

The city I live in on the English side has a clocktower with clock faces facing in the different compass directions. All have a working clock apart from the one facing north (to Scotland). The idea is not to give the scots the time of day! British humour for you! Great poem - love it, well done.

Wow. Has the feel of an epic with its warriors and gods crashing forward to crush the invading hordes.
This new pictapoem form adds just that much more drama to the tale. Found myself reading this one aloud to get the full effect. Love the historical background you share in the notes, and the awesome music. And the picture of the warrior--I'd be running the other way.

I enjoyed reading A warriors call. You did a great job with the format, and the flow and rhyme were outstanding. The history that you give of the Celtic battles is interesting too. They use all that paint on their faces like the American Indian tribes used to do before battle. Sararb :)

Yes, you're right Sararb, they were very similar in that respect when it came to their approaches to battle dress. I appreciate your wonderful review, thanks!
