Very, very nice Belinda:) Such a powerful message here, and one we all should realize as the true meaning of equality. Our character is our signature and our heart is our core. And we all need God's help at times in "knowing love has the power to heal every rift." I'm always impressed with your thoughts and expressions through your wonderful poetry my friend. This is no exception:)

A poem of reconciliation - Poet's voice rings loud and clear in sincere tones of respect for all addressed. Trust we readers will take a leave out of this poet's truth and follow her footsteps to the common fountain of love!

Three stanzas in rhyming couplets. The first two lines of the third stanza fails in this respect but the content of your poem is very good. Particularly your second stanza which I particularly liked. Regards Dorothy

If only that were the case. I liked the taste of the past and the guidance for the future in this. The style of verse fit this and gave it a prayerful/mantra feel. The rhythm and the flow were great.

I enjoyed reading your poem very much. It is a wonderful reminder to look to the person not just their appearance. I especially like the line," To use reason and intellect..." Nice writing.

this is very well written, belinda, you did an excellent job writing this quatrain poem about the way we should remember the past mistakes so we don't repeat them and remember the long journey that was made. i hate racism and have always had my say when i see something wrong, but the people like jesse jackson and al sharpton always make it sound like there hasn't been any movement in the race wars and keep things going with their rhetoric. because of the things they say, i had to worry about the neighborhood i used to live in. we had our house shot at, car busted up and the policeman that came over to investigate noise complaints said this was america and they had the right to play their music as loud as they wanted. when we said we were moving, they said we were being unamerican. sorry to go off like this, just touched a sore spot with me.

I totally understand. I have been sorely disappointed in my fellow Americans recently. I have also been angered. But most recently I've been frightened. My white child lives in Duncan Oklahoma as do my half black nieces and nephews. And my grandchildren are going to school there where even the elementary schools are on lock down due to threats made. Hence the poetry. Thank you so much for your encouragement and I am sorry for the negative experiences you've had. Hopefully more level heads will prevail in the future.

The writer delivers a message that touches the heart of the reader. The writer stays consistent with the rhyme scheme. This piece flows well as I see nothing that stands out needing correction. Good job.

The picture says it all without sentiment.it was a time when every problem out there was a challenge and for some there was much in ourselves that could be taken for granted. But there were those tarred with a different brush. Are not our minds always divisive in character. Some people are different though we don't know how. Happily it all comes down to relationship. Relationships are all. -Ekim777
