hate is the opposite of love as light and dark, yin and yan, as normal as breathing and dying-- but we try to block it out, it doesn't exist- it exists in us all, even the most placid of people if pushed far enough. Hate is strong, it should be dealt with, hate is easier than white, so it is black- abuse is not always hate, it is frustration, trauma, ie when living in our refugee camp in Lincolnshire, all the women beat their children except those who had come out of their own country as a family and were still a family as it happened..It has always been so but now we understand more-

This poem sounds ambivalent to me. First the narrator says he/she never allows hate in his/her vocabulary, yet then behaviors are described that cause him/her to almost hate those who perpetrate these disgusting actions upon others. It's definitely a conundrum, wanting NOT to hate, yet seeing such behavior that almost drives one to hate!

A good poem on hatred.The rhyming is good and the picture is perfect.....a barbed wire synbolizes hatred.The thoughts are also good. Certain lines in the poem could be expressed a little better

There could be a bit of a problem on the rhythm, but I am not really concerned with it, I would rather want to feel and be touched by the message than count syllables or be bothered by rhyming schemes. i appreciate your take on the meaning of hate and how abuse is never right. Thanks for sharing, God bless.

I think it's ok to be angry at times - life throws us many challenges and not everyone is like Ghandi! It can be destructive and soul destroying if it turns into hate though. Made me think and feel a lot - great post!
