This is excellent writing, even though the subject is definitely disturbing. You have managed to straddle the line between graphic, clear description and good taste. I think this must be exceedingly difficult to do. I was only slightly grossed out, and at the same time, aware that you gave the important details, but not too many, and nothing that was unnecessary to the story. Well done.

Holy crap Bev, I am sure glad I read this one in daylight instead of night time. I would have had nightmares galore. This is exceptionally well penned - you have the emotion, action and inner workings of the insanity spreading in Eddie. Fascinating work and you pulled it off brilliantly.
Yikes now to get rid of those images:)
Thanks for sharing it.

Hi, Maureen. Thank you so much, lovely lady, for this awesome review. I know I amped up the creep factor, which I don't intend to do with every chapter. I'm glad I pulled it off okay as I don't care to write another one quite like this!

Your generosity and support are invaluable and so very much appreciated.

    Love, Bev

Maybe as you kept it short I had the feeling I missed something but that can't be. Eddie is a brutal serial killer and I think he killed his own mother as well.

This is a very dark and disturbing story. This is a murder mystery of the most heinous kind. The author takes the reader on a roller-coaster ride that he will never forget. This is a great story.

The setting was clear, the scenes caused me no confusion, and the action was great. Great job. You can certainly show a man possessed. Those spider things are scary. In this case, the guy is not to blame for everything he does, or is he? What is your explanation? Is he partially to blame for possession?

I believe he is almost totally possessed, and yet what he does he does for love of Matthew. What I don't think anyone can really explain about such states is how someone can be a vicious killer and yet still have the ability to love with absolute devotion. I read of a case of a nun in Italy whose father had supposedly dedicated her soul to Satan as an infant. Week after week she returns and her parish priest performs the exorcism, she exhibits a tantrum and then meekly leaves to return the next week. This has been going on for over a decade. The real mystery, I think, is true holiness as in the case of Jesus.

Thanks for the great review, JM. Coming from you, I'm especially pleased.

Now we know who did the murders. Will he be captured and stand trial or will he kill himself? This quite a tale, Bev. It had to be extremely hard to write this chapter. I am wondering if the man, who is now the priest, is also connected in some way to all this?

His connection will become more apparent in the next few chapters, but it's not one that he knowingly invites.

April, thanks so much for your generous review of this difficult chapter. I really appreciate your support.

I don't think this could get any creepier, Bev. You really held my attention, as you always do with this novel of yours. Eddie is indeed one tormented and sick soul. I thought it was interesting that the demon took the shape of a spider and then when slammed against the wall, exploded into "a thousand tiny spiders." And also, how creepy that his mother is "butcher-wrapped and stowed in the garage freezer." You do have an imagination going on here, my friend, and it's all fun for those of us who are following your work. I didn't really notice any spags since I was so taken with the story. Excellent work once again, Bev. I want to give you six stars, but silly me spent them all yesterday. I can't believe I did that. This is so worthy of six stars and more!
Hugs,

I'm so glad I'm not the only one that has so many people they want to give sixes to! Your words of support and encouragement are quite wonderful enough, my dear friend. Yes, Eddie is a tormented soul. So many times, these types of demonic infestations start with a precipitating childhood event. That may come out later. As always, you're a peach!

Wow! You were right about the similarities here, Writingfundimention, that's a bit freaky, don't you think? What if we were writing these at precisely the same time? Is it some force, some overwhelming compulsion that's trying to tell us something? B-R-R-R-r-r-r-r... Creepy!

The story itself was absolutely phenomenal! How have I not seen this? I am usually on a new horror posting like fleas on a dog, but I completely missed this exceptional offering somehow. I will try and fan you (if I have not already) so as not to miss anymore!

The story line was/is reminiscent of Clive Barker's wonderful, 'The Yattering & Jack'. If you've never read it, and you enjoy good, spooky graphic novels, as I do, once in a while, I'd urge you to do so. You won't be disappointed.

It's not a wonder you are up for Book of the Month and other awards often. Your writing is exceptional, very well done!

That is a wild creature that is tormenting Eddie. And it can speak!

It doesn't have any good news for Eddie and is planning to tear him to shreds over and over.

An exciting and bizarre chapter!

Cheers,
DW
