A well-written organized post that manages to get a valid point across without resorting to profanity. I can think of two who fit your description. One FS friend wanted to report said post to Tom. I seriously doubt the writing would shake anyone's belief system. Unlike you, I don't waste time confronting these people. Hubby's the aggressor in our relationship. He thrives on confrontation.
I like how you separate the different reasons people get on the site.

You know what? Rather than accept the compliment, I'd rather congratulate you on hearing, listening and responding. A person doesn't need to be confrontational in order to defend his point of view. They do need to believe in their POV and use innate skills to protect and display their own belief system. Good for you.

As you say, it does encourage the discipline of writing regularly. By having people review their writing, it also encourages writers to pay more attention to revising and polishing their product. You waste time and energy if you fret over writers, in particular, those that you feel use FanStory as a platform to express their religious views. I don't write spiritual poetry myself, but if any category of writing offends you, you have the option of not reading and reviewing it. I don't care for fantasy stories and hardly ever read them. judiverse

You are right on all counts and I've read vampire stories--that I abhor, poetry--that really needs to be edgy to garner my interest, but I none of my pass-overs, or fly-by attention, have I ever assumed that the genre or my taste dictated talent.
When something infuriates me beyond a genre, I get mouthy. This guy suck and is turning every reviewer into another pig by picking up the cash, myself included.

No I won't be angry. I'll seriously question member judgement, but then again, maybe you haven't read any of the pay-for-play stories posted over the last tow weeks. Your choice. I my opinion, a total waste of time, but advantageous in collecting points.

The particular guy you are referring to is one I won't even read, no matter what the bucks are. I can't make head or tails of his stuff. In his defense, I do think that English is not his first language so what he writes sounds addled. Not that that is an excuse for inflicting it on us. Lol. And there are others who speak another language first, who are quite good. Anyway, got a kick out of this. I know it isn't supposed to be amusing, but sometimes it is. (The guy is being encouraged by the reviewers who want the money. Does it surprise me? No.)

Well, you can find me on the reviewers list, but I gave him his money's worth by spending an hour editing and sending it back, but I have since revised my POV and just want his credit card to max out, and go away so that my disgust doesn't permeate these pages.

I've learned the rules, after countless suspensions...really. They won't toss me, I named no one.
I wish I was gay so that I could parade about and announce my status as 'Queen of the Day' but I'm actually a born-again-virgin, aging in my puddle of fossilized memories...but I'll accept your hero status with humour and appreciation that at least a few people out there know what I'm talking about.

I had one attack me directly and I took the cowards way out and complained to Tom who quietly reprimanded him and remove his obnoxious, rude, and insulting review from my post. I respect everyone's right to believe the way they want but i expect the same respect in return. Too bad they think so highly of themselves that they just miss the point. You said what I have wanted but was too angry to say. Thank you for speaking up and whether you know it or not, you have also spoken for many of us.

I think you're safe with that one...lol He will NEVER learn the rules since he believes he is God's interpreter of the rules. If there in face is a God, the poor guy will be asked to pay his dues by the very God he proclaims to be buddies with.

I did it once. without FS dollars, I snapped my Am-Ex card down, consoling myself with the $100 expense to grovel from obscurity to top dog, to put my money where my mouth was.
Of course now I can equate that folly by comparison--more than a carton of smokes and several encounters with Smirnoff, but that was then. Watching a grammar school flunk out buying himself to the top actually offends me, but rather than challenge a fool, I spent $10, phony or otherwise, to voice my disgust.

I feel your pain - it reflects badly on the whole site if someone peruses the top poems and finds mangled language, and then to top if off, discovers other members are praising the mangled drivel

Our boy is in the 25th position as reviewer. I sincerely hope he hasn't saved up to launch this debacle. I've been counting on a credit limit to stop tarnishing honest efforts.

For a bunch of weeks he did not post, but all that while he was reviewing, building up the bank. I was worried then that building up the bank was his goal.

Sure, I've been attacked, but I've also been comforted and encouraged and I'd like to thin that I can sift through the BS.

The price is the same for everyone. FS will accept their fictitious dollars to peddle up to the top-spot paid positions on home page, but they will also accept any credit card and real-life currency in a writers climb up the ladder.
The feature stories on home page are review driven accolades.

I think I stopped paying more than my monthly dues once I realized that I would go broke trying to be noticed. I do a lot of reviewing, but often my stories get selected with only a few reviews. And all the months I've been here I still can't figure it out
