Yay!! You won, and a well deserved win it was too. Very clever metaphor with the sand and faith. I'm sure it would rise up, too. Faith is a powerful thing, as they say, you can move mountains with faith. Another metaphor, but a good one. Well done and congratulations. :)) Sandra xx

Very good!! You have done a fantastic job with this write, Bill. I am glad you resurrected it and shared it with us. I especially like...

It is through faith and truth that the single grain of sand will defy all reasonable expectations - and rise.

So good!!

Soul searching it was called back in the day where all looked to the heavens for God to forgive them for their sins. Nice work up for this story.

It's easy to see why this was a contest winner.. Comparing and contrasting our souls to grains of sand in an hourglass is very ingenious. Very nice job.

I'm not that sure if I ingrained the entire meaning of this short article, but I liked the way you wrote it. It makes one use their mind. That is always a good thing. I enjoyed reading this well written short story... John

'Pebble.' An excellent description of a Soul you wrote. I enjoyed reading the prose and I thought your formulation was quite good. Well done.

Nicely done, Bill. I can see why this won the contest. I like the metaphor of a soul being like a grain of sand. You draw the analogy very clearly. Not a word is wasted.

This is a very well deserved win. I read much spiritual works and this one is excellent in its content and in the beauty metaphor it presents as well. Great to understand as well. Congratulations in winning the first prize.

What a great entry! I don't know how that other one tied with you.. no comparison! This is awesome, Bill. It's my fault for not paying attention and reading soon enough to vote. I'm kicking myself, but at least you did get the prize ribbon... congratulations! :)

Well, you start this out talking about a pebble, but I'm pretty sure you meant to say "sand." This is an interesting take on some familiar adages. :)

A pebble is an individual grain of sand (but you knew that).
