I believe this poem to be about childhood abuse and the effect it is having on the author's heart and soul as memories have resurfaced from her past. The arms of a lover offer so much more that just comfort, for peace, love, neutering and a piece of yourself can be found there. Sheltered within love the author is ready to deal with her emotions and let her tears wash her past away. This is full of trust and deep emotions that cry their need to be expunged from the soul while love stands guard to ensure their departure is voluntary, complete and final.

for many years now
my eyes were
always dry.
This part above I could actually identify with I was so closed emotionally for so long at one time in my life...

in the reassurance
of your smile.
It took the reasuurance of unconditional love to draw me out... and years of denial finally went away

Shelter of arms is the best kind...
the only thing I thought that could be different but not nessasary was like you never HAVE before instead of DID
but all in all I loved this one and it made me count my blessings again
So BRAVO and 5 for you!
