Thanks for this tribute. I had a great English teacher who used popular music as poetry. It is sometimes the only poetry people hear. The picture is great . He has a cheeky look . Thanks

So true, and most people wouldn't relized that. For theBaltimore Poetry Discussion Group, I conducted a discussion titled, "The Finer Poetry in Rock and Roll Lyrics." I thank you for thise review. Mike

You have written a nice tribute to Ray Manzarek, my friend. There is so much passion lacing every word. It is as if you actually met him--was a good friend. Thank you for sharing.

Wow! I do believe we met, but only in the spiritual sense as well as a Facebook friend who signed on to me. I thank you for the wonderful review! Mike

This is a great and sincere dedication or eulogy/elegy type poem. I like how you use a rhyme scheme, but it isn't overly heavy. There are a couple of back slashes that I guess got put in by the formatting program here, unless they are there accidentally, after "music and words" and "landscape and inspires." Nice job.

Ray isn't a very heavy person and very honest in his candor. Jim liked the nuke bombs of literary passion. No I put in the slashes, but a in a note-to-self. I am a member of a poetry discussion group in Baltimore, and slashes messes with the best of them. My opinion is, it is the one character that rest with a poet's fancy who enjoys the eye of the beholder concept.

I thank you for the review and compliments. Switching editor's on Facebook always holds unseen possibilities. Mike

This write is a touching tribute from a faithful fan throughout the years that survived the drug ravages if the 70's, and that is a miracle having lost his band mate to that very thing. I hope that his peace was centered in a bond with the living God who is Peace. :0 GracieAnn

Well I believe Ray was the first to shake the drugs as I just purchased a CD of him giving the spoken history of the doors. He went though a series of bad trips and used meditation to keep up the spirit of what he enjoyed. As what plagues many families, Jim took the opposite approach as he flirted with his conception of what is ordained.

I enjoy this review and thank you for it and the compliments. Mike

What a nice ode to a great musician! I loved the Doors music as well, feeling transported by their melodies and lyrics. This is a nice piece.

You have written such a wonderful tribute and I'm so glad that you shared this with us all. Your words weave his story so beautifully and the final stanza brings it all together perfectly.

I would also You Tube him both under his name and under Doors. He is their keyboardist, completely phased into his music. I thank you for the compliments and this review. Mike

Has he passed on? The doors are on of my all time favorite bands. He was a big reason for their music being so well produced. This was a well written poem. I knew something of this man and his music. He made the doors better and he really was the architect of their music. This was an excellently written tribute to a fine artist and influential man of his time... John
