Before I begin, I begin, my life is a true monologue...I play all parts and I must say, it is exhausting.

Now for my review....

Wow! I do love your monologues. You are spot on with this one. You touched upon a few too many issues many of us are currently facing (both for-ard and back). Marvelous metaphors that I personally can relate to. This is one I would pay to see performed. Maybe you have a friend with a video camera and you can treat us to a performance???!!!! Give it a thought. I just loved this, worth at least a 10 star rating but they only allow a 6...sorry.

your life is a wonderful monologue dear! and I'd love to perform this piece! it sort of came out of left field to me, but I have a show on the back burner about woman aging ... and this prompt popped up. I've been doodling with poetry and prose for the last few months, taking a break from scripts, but I do realize, after writing this one, how much I miss doing them. I think I've just been avoiding finishing it. So now you give me incentive! have to write some music for it too of course ... Bless you for your wonderful monologue lifestyle, and for your just-as-wonderful magic sixer!

That was absolutely brilliant!i could identify myself in the Sharyn/ letter receiver. midlife is the time we live like Janus.we are half turned to our past ,blaming others or misfortunes for the state we are in and then worrying what will happen in future. Looking back presents a lot of regrets and wonder what IT COULD HAVE BEEN -like Frost's Road Not Taken, and net result we forget to LIVE in the present. thank you for writing .i enjoyed reading it.Hope your son's driving licence doesnot give you much worries!-love

Bless you for your lovely six on this one Sanku - so glad you 'got' what I was on about. We ALL go thru it, don't we? (My son's driving license still has me on tenterhooks though! yikes!)

Dear Sharyn, This letter is to inform you that your piece not only conforms to the rules, it is a refreshing change from all those stone tablets of yore. I loved your email ( ecclesiastical mail) missive from on high. The Triolets were a joy in composition form and in message. As a former director, I could visualize so well your confrontation and it gave me a huge smile this morning. Well done. Your creativity continues to delight. - Wendy

Well that's certainly a fresh take on 'giving oneself a good talking to' - love the injection of humour and the satirical twist on, normally such sombre, thoughts.

if we let ourselves go with those sombre thoughts, they don't lead to a good place Lady C. - and what purpose does going there serve? Nope - squeeze the juice from today love - it's the only way, hmm? :)S

Oh my, Sharyn, my dear, I am blubbering, simply blubbering after roaring with laughter most of the way. You have just so completely blown me away with this one 'cause the advice your 'protagonist' is given is EXACTLY (emotionally, psychologically/spiritually/any damn way you want it) what I feel, and how I want the rest of my life to be - "love like crazy - more than gold". I am so, so touched by this beautiful script, my friend. If I can't 'six' it, I'm GOING TO SCREAM!

Nooooooo!!!! AAAAAAARrrrrrrGGGGGGGGG!!!! (You guessed it - 30-day rule!!!) SSShhhhheeeeeeIIIIITTT!

OUTSTANDING!*********************************************

oh God!! your screams were a MUCH bigger bang for my buck than a mere six Dawn! I'm SOOOO delighted with your reaction to this one. I haven't written any scripts for ages - can you tell I've missed it? Now you know why we got on so well - we have the same what-the-hell philosophy!
    hugs with delight!

Dear Sharyn,
Your skill as a playwright shows clearly in this scrumptious piece of writing and your self denigrating wit is absolutely delightful. The use of Janus as a means of focusing on the past and future shows a real feeling for the classics. Aw, Hell. It's just bloody good and thoroughly enjoyable.
Some day you must post a recording of your "slow, jazzy, sultry, warm as honey)" singing.
Best regards
Reg

aaah Reg - aw shucks hunny! I'm still trying to hum a tune to fill this one out. I actually have a light soprano voice more suited to Cole Porter / Noel Coward stuff, but I'm a sexy jazz wannabe! Closest I can come in my head to the sound would have to be Nana Mouskouri - do remember her? a little Greek lady who had her own TV show way back when - but she had this pure "crystal" voice that was never dwarfed by instrumentals ... and now I'm raving. I'm so glad you thought this was bloody good and thank you many times over for your bloody lovely six! What a sweetheart - seriously, I'm really glad you enjoyed this piece. I'm missing writing scripts - haven't written one for ages - am procrastinating about putting my 2nd show together because I ripped a lot of my monologues apart to re-stitch my first show and don't want to look at the mess in my folder at the moment! GRR! :)))))))))))))))

This is superb. Very visual and of course theatrical. I would love to see this performed. I had no problem picturing it in my minds eye as I was reading it. The central theme and the image of Janus illustrate your message quite well. I also liked the light tone and humor throughout. Your hybrid of theater script and poem works very well. I agree with your message that while it is important to remember the past and to hope and plan for the future, it is essential that we appreciate and enjoy the present while we have it, for it is fleeting. This is so well done that I couldn't possibly list all the things I liked about it. For what it's worth, I think you easily fulfilled the assignment, and in an extremely inventive way. Extraordinary.

This was an amusing and entertaining script to read. I suppose it is like many people - one face forward and the other looking backwards, with sadness. It held my attention right through to the end. Good.

I haven't read a script in a while here on FanStory. I like the dialogue in this contest entry. I saw no grammar issues needing addressing. Good luck in the contest.
