I'm so glad I don't give out sixes often, so always have them to offer. How could I not six it when it appeals to me all ways. I clapped eyes on that pic of those beautiful kids and smiled; I knew straight away it would be one of your best. Not wrong. "White-eyed fear; eyes did cloud"; that's a fantastic emotive line and doubled meaning. Best moment. I really enjoyed reading this aloud, Kaye. It's a poem that can really be performed, not only spoken. It did the background didgeridoo music proud. Admired the way this hits the heart and honours such an outstanding woman and her tribal mission. Wonderful. Cheers. Alyx.

Fantastic photo
Excellent use of alternate-line rhyming
good alliteration in shift/shapeless/shuffled and in down in dust and in finally found...
Excellent action verbs add life to your scene, such as slap, shuffle, laugh, dance...
A powerful portrait with effective social commentary :-) Brooke

Wow! Thank you Mrs Pearl - coming from you, this is high praise. Someone asked me to write it freestyle, I find rhyming is my passion and if they don't understand - tough tits. Bless you darling girl XX

Oh, Kay, that was so sad, so motional and so uplifting all at the same time! What an amazing woman that child turned out to be, with every right to be proud of her heritage. I love stories like this, where the down trodden suddenly stand up for their rights and for the things that were stolen from them. The same is happening in America with the red Indian tribes, it has taken them all a long time, but they are getting there. A wonderful poem, Kay, beautifully written and such a pleasure to read. xsx Sandra

Hello Sunny Bunny, Thanks so much for your kind review; we cannot undo the damage that was done so long ago - we can only try to make peace. Our Prime Minister had a 'Sorry' day for our first land owners - too little, too late. Still, we are taking back sacred sites and hopefully working towards peace. Love from your mate - Kay XX

Hi K,

When I visited the land of OZ we went to an Aboriginal village and saw some amazing things. I am glad they are becoming more a part of the land they live in. You have penned a good poem with an effective rhyme and wise word choices. Good alliteration in she/shuffled/slowly and the flow is smooth. Well done....blessings, chey

You capture an important part of history here. Excellent poetic form that brings the reader into the world of the Aborigine. I am glad to hear that times have changed and they are able to take part in government.

Hullo Aussie ...

As always, I really enjoy reading what you write about the history and customs of the people of your great continent. It is good to know that white people finally recognised the indigenous people and acknowledged their rights and abilities.
Thank you for sharing this with us.
Love from .... Nanette Mary.

LATER : Please accept my apologies - it must have been a slip of the finger. You now have 5 stars!!

Nicely written Kay. I enjoy your poetry based on historical events from the "land down under". It's something I never would have known otherwise. Please continue, I'm positive I am not the only one enjoying them. John

John, Thank you for your interest - I like to write about the Stolen Generation because my grandmother was aboriginal. Our people lost our sacred lands to the British over 200 yrs. ago. Much like countries stolen from their original owners all over the world. Cheers, Kay.

Hello Lori, Thanks so much for reading; glad you enjoyed reading. Our people suffered under British rule and were enslaved for the use of the whites. Blessings, Kay.

This is an awesome tribute to those of your country that have had to fight for their rights and freedoms too. Great piece. God loves you and I do too.
