"Deliciously" delightful delicacies depicted in this story. "When there is a will, there is a way", a point well made. I laughed a lot and liked the sly strategies in "Now with beards together, plotting" and "I won't fear their sneaky scheming" "Each plan defeated by pre-emptive strike" A time honored challenge since goats have been goats.

This is a very cute story. We never had goats, but had pigs that were always getting out and eating everything around. Love the metaphors related to the escape stories. Nice picture as well. Good luck in the contest.

Pigs are more powerful when it comes to breaking through fences, but goats are sneakier I think.

Thank you for this very funny poem. I guess one has had to have goats to really understand. I used to have milk goats when I lived in Tennessee. I don't think your defenses will work though. LOL

are you by any chance a fan of Poe or were you magically channeling the rhythm/rhyme scheme of " The Raven". Your use of rhythm and rhyme is the true star of this poem. and like the mounting desperation of the end with " snipers, quickly mount your towers".

Now you've made me go and double check! I agree that lines 1& 2 and 4&5 of each of my stanzas are similar to Poe's (he put them on one line) but then we part ways, and he adds a double whammy ending to each stanza with the repeated rhyme door/more/Lenore/explore....
It would be extremely difficult to carry off I imagine, but I will take your comment as a compliment anyway. I've always found rhyme and meter relatively easy and I am sometimes surprised that others don't get it.

This was just fun and brought back memories of neighbor's goat that would wander the neighborhood in search of tulips and roses despite its owners restraints.

Fortunately we have no near neighbours and the troublesome pair haven't seen the need to stray away from our own shrub/vege smorgasbord yet
