This is an entertaining read about goats. They can be tricky to catch and they do tend to eat everything which is precious, from roses to laundry.

I started to read and decided it was worth a sixer, before I reached the notice of your victory and a well deserved one at that. A wonderfully executed mix of iambs and anapaests combined with your superb rhymes would do justice to Banjo himself. Its also crazy enough to mix it with Noel Coward.

June Yvonne has pointed out that the meter/rhyme has some similarities to 'Clancy of the Overflow' and a couple of others think they have spotted Poe's Raven...
Can't say I was consciously imitating either, but I did have fun...

I found myself thinking immediately of Banjo Paterson's "Clancy of the Overflow", with which you are no doubt familiar:

'Twas his shearing mate who wrote it,
and verbatim I will quote it:
"Clancy's gone to Queensland droving
and we don't know where he are..."

Of course I do know Banjo's poems - I remember my Dad had a copy of them and I read it as quite a young child - too long ago to mention - a couple of other reviewers have pointed out similarities in R&M to Poe's 'The raven'.
I think Clancy is more like Raven than I was, but I'll certainly take both comparisons as a huge compliment.

yes, that's exactly what it is about. Towards the end I exaggerated (using hyperbole) to compare keeping the goats fenced in to keeping prisoners secure in a POW camp....

This is very funny. I had neighbors across the allyway from me and their dog would rip their fence to shreds everyday. They fixed and fixed, but I'd hear wood splintering and ripping and sure enough this huge dog was excaping once again, but it never ate our flowers. This is really great. A+ Rox

This is great. I don't know how you did it with such complicated sentences, but this rhymes and also makes sense. It flows along in good rhyme and is humorous too. I know little about poetry, but you seem to have covered a lot of territory here, going by your notes, and did it well. Good job.

This is an absolutely adorable poem, and I lived on a farm property with several goats, so I do know how destructive they can be Queen Elizabeth roses? Oh those troublesome two! What a wonderful entry for this prompt - best of luck!

This is all very interesting and well-done. i have a friend who has three goats and no matter what she does they weem to find a way out of the fence. They've eaten the best of flowers and scrubs of all the neighbors. Good job. God loves you and I do too.
