Aussie, as usual you are gifted with presenting such rich though tragic history in poetic form. The presentation and cadence of these stanzas lend to the solemn but honorable tone of this work. I love it, thank you for sharing... jimi

I wish no country had such men to remember. To lose their lives so young is a travesty. In America we have Veterans' Day and thank all who have served.

This is a wonderful poem about war and the loss of young men. You have a smooth flow of words and excellent rhyming. The reader can see the slaughter of the young soldiers.

Hullo Aussie ...

With you, I remember .... just as during all the years of my youth, when my dear Father - a Veteran of both World Wars - used to take us to the 'Family nights' at the M.O.T.H.s -
(Memorable Order of the Tin Hats) ... at the conclusion of which, they crossed their hands over the Tin Hats and said the words .. "They shall not grow old as we who are left grow old....."
The terrible thing is that now, in addition to
remembering wars, we have also the bombings and massacres and murders that seem endless.
Thank you for sharing this with us. Together, we remember.
Love from ... Nanette Mary.

Hi K,

How sad is war? Those who never fought or had a loved one in war will never know the grief and sorrow. You have written a great poem with descriptive words, a gentle flow, good alliteration and enjambments without too much punctuation causing too many starts and stops. Your rhyme is lyrical and the theme, while sad, is compelling....blessings, chey

Hello there Mrs Wyoming, Thanks for reading; yesterday we had more people attend the Dawn Service across Australia and we watched the service from Gallipoli - the fighting never stops. Bless you, K.

I've always liked your tributary poetry on different themes. The sound of the bugle on ANZAC day always has that sad haunted quality of no returns. Being merely bum-fluff boys for hire summed it up. We had a fine and beautiful day for it here today. Nice honour, Kay. Cheers. Alyx.
