only apologize for the length of a poem if it is boring. it sure did not seem long to me. each " you bring out" used familiar images in interesting ways. really liked sassy, spice, hardness. all your descriptions of your states of being suggest that you are living deeply, an examined life. no apologies necessary. a really good poem.

Hi Debbie, I don't think a poem can ever be to long. It takes all the words to say what you want your poem to say. I love this poem. It is just wonderful. Has a great smooth read to it. Just wanting to see what the next lines are going to say. A great write. Linda xoox

this is an absolutely beautifully conceived and executed poem. the imagery is wonderful. you drew me in from the first stanza -- you bring out the leo in me, love it. sounds like somebody pretty magnetic bringing out out all that in one person. excellent poetic piece. and presentation enhanced poem. don't have a six left but it would have been yours.

I really enjoyed this. I don't know why but its reminiscent of the song Embraceable You, which is a favorite of mine. As is your poem. I love it. It is so sweet and sentimental. Your words are so soft, your meaning behind the words comes easily across. You did an excellent job.

Well, I think it is just the right length, because you have written each verse with deliberate care. It's really a beautiful work, and I wish more than anything that I had a six to give you. Your descriptions are wonderful and create beautiful imagery while the words themselves read a lyrical tune. What a wonderful exercise in self-portrait.
hard to say my favorite stanza, but here's a top contender:
You bring out the wonder in me
the first daffodil of spring to open
beside a melting drift of snow

Well, I think it is just the right length, because you have written each verse with deliberate care. It's really a beautiful work, and I wish more than anything that I had a six to give you. Your descriptions are wonderful and create beautiful imagery while the words themselves read a lyrical tune. What a wonderful exercise in self-portrait.

I'll check that out. I am doing a reading of mine in June. Should have my son video a clip of that. I have done a couple, but never thought of recording it. This is an excellent free verse poem without rhyme but with rhythm. It has a form that is unconventional and fits the theme. The metaphors are colorful and appropriate and the imagery good. For me its a little long with verses expressing similar ideas that could be pruned to make it a more focused and powerful work.

Well, since I am a Leo, I agree with all the fire
and brimstone you use to describe a person who is
a sun sign and generous to a fault.
Happy to know there is someone who lights your fire
and doesn't dampen it with your wet (water) sign.
