I feel you! I often think even this sight is a bit too holier than though with lots of its messages. I think that if we could just teach tolerance instead of doctrines of faith - as a society we would be better off! Nice work.

Yes, in an ideal world we would not be judging one another. Tolerance and acceptance would be the order of the day.

Thanks so much for your review and especially your comments.

Thank you very much for this ,Marisa, you have written what has been boiling in my mind and wanted to write .i could not have written it so well.i am a deeply spiritual person and i am not using the word 'religious' because these days religion has a lot of unsavoury conotation.I believe in god ,a god who resides in the deepest part of our mind and we, unable to perceive him like that has given different names and different images to him.more people have been killed in the name of religion than any killer disease or accidents .Living in India ,the land who gave birth to Gandhiji I hear of it often .we have forgotten the word tolerance.-sorry for such a long babble-love and peace .Namaste-sanku

You certainly know how to tell it like it is. It is simple, isn't it? But the judgmental types make it sound complex because they want everyone to be the same--to follow their dictates.
Thank you for standing this ground and doing it so well.
I love all of your quotes, but my favorite is: "If we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other." - Mother Teresa

You have my last six. :)

Your writing format is clear and easy to understand. You lay out your argument well and boldly state your points. You break up the hard tone and force of your words with softness by utilizing quotes. Your work is organized and flows well. Pertaining to the content of the writing: what a delight it would be to live in a world of social and physical order where there was not male or female, black or white, religious or non-religious, giving over to marriage or training others to know the difference between right and wrong. Where each person could be holy, pure, and not defiled by their own mindsets or bodily desires. A place where we could all co-habitat together without worrying about how we need to protect and guard what we deem as our own. Where the only difference we experience is the difference in the presentations of our personality and style. Even that is an almost perfect world: Not quite perfect. For some how mankind is ingenious and will find a way to strive with one another in that. I pray peace for all and let us put the strive away. For as you pointed out wickedness shows no one any mercy and hunts us all down to the bitter end. In your writing, you stood your ground well and held on firmly. I just hope that is the ground you really want to stand on. We can look across the globe and see that not all ground is good ground for growing and harvesting- cultivating life. We have to choice our ground wisely and allow wisdom to be our school master. Understanding is a stranger to many of us although she should be our bosom friend. Both wisdom and understanding hidden themselves in words; it is up to us to hear them when they speak. They want shout or loose heart. They provide an offering them move on. If you see them grab and don't let go. They don't stay long.

Hi, thank you for sharing this story. I think you write very well, the structure and sentences are great, also you kept me interested from beginning till end, for the story in itself but also because of your excellent writing.
Moreover, you explored very well subjects like religion.

Well done.

Very well written, Marisa.

I can read between the lines into your sense of weariness.

I agree entirely with what you say about the self righteous.

I think this arises mostly from the fact that those who make the statements that they do, aren't very well versed in the real tenets and writings pertaining to their own religious beliefs.

You've raised plenty of points for discussion. Good job, friend! :)

This is a very well written commentary. You have written much of the same philosophy that I have aspired to most of my life.I am a strong believer in God, but organized religion has more than disappointed me. It is an honor and a pleasure reading for you.

This was an interesting piece. You have made some good points here. I just felt that we need to be careful, not to "throw the baby out with the bath water." While I know what you mean by organized religion, one can't lump all churches together. The church is actually just believers, and they are both right and wrong, as well as sometimes good, sometimes not. Just human. The same is true of the groups you speak of, including those who are gay. Together, there have been churches that are not pious, nor condemning, but loving and helpful, as Christ would ask us to be, yet maintaining the truth of scripture. So much depends on our own life experience at the church. How we treat those who walk into the church doors, affects them for a life time. We should show love for all, not that we have to agree with everyone, but it's how we go about it that matters. Enjoyed your very well written piece. Sorry I've gone on too long. Bless you!

Please understand that I am not painting with a broad brush where organized religion is concerned. I just said it is not for me, but I know for many it brings a great deal of comfort. I am not inclined to put up with all the hypocrisy one must withstand in such structured settings.

I agree with you that there are a lot of determining factors when it comes to the quality of any church.

Thank you for the read and for taking time to comment on this piece.

NEVER JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER FOR YOU WILL BE SURPRISED WHAT YOU FIND INSIDE.NEVER EVER SIT IN JUDGEMENT WITHOUT ALL THE FACTS PRESENTED AND THE ONLY BELIEVE HALF OF WHAT YOU HEAR ON HALF OF WHAT YOU SEE. DO NOT LISTEN TO OTHERS MAKE UP YOUR OWN MIND THAT'S WHY GOD GAVE US ONE.

This is a moving piece of motivational writing. It is a strong antidote to the pharisee spirit that is so prevalent in religious circles right now. very motivating and inspiring. kudos
