I think surcease is such a great word. Glad you used it. Great repeating lines. Excellent rhyme and flow, naturally. Beautiful idea of the silence forming a psalm. Dawn is a time for silence. There is so much peaceful beauty, it doesn't to be expressed with any sound. Sometimes silence is golden, and this is the golden moment to take in the beauty. Great line "the silence forms a psalm." judi

I like the feel of this poem, the calmness of the dawn where sound is not needed. This unique form of poetry appeals to the senses. As the silence forms a psalm is wonderfully spiritual, as if the dawn can connect us to God.

You have written about my favorite time of day on the rare times I am awake to enjoy it before I have to get moving. You have captured the unique peacefulness of the early morning beautifully. T2

Brooke, this is a beautifully written poem, as always, in perfect form. Sometimes even the sound of birdsong might intrude on a blessed quite. I love the wordless psalm of silence. Love, Jeanie

Silence can be as profound as words, sometimes having even more meaning. As poets, we embrace words, but I love how this poem gives tribute to those precious and few moments of silence. Loved this line: "silence forms a wordless psalm." So true that is, and what a wonderful and creative expression you have here.

This is very well done, I saw no errors and think you did a wonderful job of representing the style of poetry with lovely verse.

I have not had my laptop with me for the past few days thus have not been able to review.
I am so glad that this was the first piece I read.
The mirage is a nice form, but your subject made it more so.
The entire poem spoke to me, and needless to say sounds beautiful when read aloud. But the stanza that really stood out for me is:
In this hush of dawn so calm,
silence forms a wordless psalm
when first light arrives at last
and the bleak of night has passed.
It certainly reflects those early morning hours, which are my favorite ones of the day. You speak of the time when the troubles of the world are still hours away. Before the TV is turned on to hear the news, or the newspaper arrives with horror stories. A time for contemplation, of the day just gone, and the one ahead.
Thanks for sharing and making my day.
