Guns, like any weapon, should be used to protect something. Im wondering if a defensive use could be considered violence?
Then again, your words imply a good use of it when compared to those who abuse the power it gives.

I hate guns and when my husband was in the Army's CID he was supposed to bring his weapon home, in case he got called out a night. So...but our constitution grants us the privilege to own a gun and I worry about anybody who threatens that right. If somebody really wanted to murder somebody they would find another way, knife, bombs, etc.

Debbie, Is there some way you can reword this so as to not accuse ALL firearm proponents of preferring continued violence. First of all, such all inclusive statements are a turn-off for those who own guns but do not like violence. Secondly, it is a turn-off for all those who like safety but deplore violence. I hadn't thought of it that way. I do not oppose guns, but think we need background checks etc to make sure they aren't sold to people with violent or erratic tendencies. I will work on that. Thank you so very much for pointing that out and of course for your review, my friend~DEbbie

gun safety - interesting term - especially when one considers the fact that most guns have a safety switch or button - and violent occurs when it is turned off.

I own seven weapons and since Vietnam have never killed anyone. Guns are not the problem, violence is. Knives, baseball bats, cars, drunks, child abusers are. Guns don'r kill, but people do
