Good morning,
I ran across your post and thought it was great. You did an awesome job with just 55 words, but you left us all wondering... Have you thought about expanding on this into a story? I think you would work something with it. Anyway, great job, good luck on the contest. I will try and get back to give you my vote. Nicely done!

Ah, I'm glad you explained what Spider grandmother
is -- I imagined him being taken by a spider -- shivers.
I applaud you for this, Bev, as I couldn't master writing a story in 55 words - I've always too much to say..

Artistically written, it is in some segments poetic as well. Will have to check your site for some poems to Review.
(I enjoy reading the poetry of others almost as much as I do in writing it.). New to Fanstory, 2 of my 5 poems are
about spiders. Indeed, one of them is fully in rhyme and an entry in this same 55-word contest: "SAGA OF TWO SPACE SPIDERS" based on a true story of their flight in a Skylab
space capsule. The other is a silly frolic entitled
"ADVICE TO A NICE NIGHT GNAT".It is sure to bring you a smile. Take a peek. Good luck in this contest! john

My only regret is that it would be very difficult to make heads or tails of this story without the accompanying explanation, or a background in Hopi spirituality (I tried, before discovering the Author's Note).

I am always amazed by the ancient writings/paintings of man. They were/are sharing their experiences and beliefs with us. And, as you say, some of the drawings really stimulate the imaginations, since they seem to portray things not of this earth.
If I hadn't been slinging sixes out like candy this week, you'd have one for sure!

Hi, Av. I'm so pleased you liked my entry. Since the notes are crucial to understanding the story, It probably doesn't fit the bill quite as well as your brilliant entry. But, I felt impelled to write it and I'm glad I did. It was fun trying to get a whole story into 55 words. Certainly, I was inspired by your offering as well as the others.
