Yikes! Atypical chills ran down my spine at that closing sentence! This is quite the shocking little story, and I thoroughly enjoyed the goosebump experience. :)

Nicely done. Good luck in the contest!

This kind of thing is dangerous to fool around with. Demons are real. You can open yourself up to all kinds of unpleasant experiences. Well-done. God loves you and so do I.

Yes, I know. You'd be surprised how much I edited this little story so I wouldn't spoil it with my own Spiritual take on it. I wanted to leave it open to the reader. But if you read my author notes..."dangerously so," nails it. Thank you for your review. And God bless you.

I got it. I knew we were on the same wave length. It's nothing to play around with. God loves you and I do too.

short and sharp - well done, amahra.
I won't attend a seance - I did as
a young woman once, and what happened
was quite frightening - and the
consequences for the person distressing.

some are surely fixed, but still I won't mess with what
I don't understand.

good luck with the contest, my friend.

Thank you Margaret. I believe some are fake and so are not. Oh...by the way, I named one of my characters in my new story, Margaret; she's a love interest to my main character.

I like your short, short story.

You convey the scene descriptively in just a few words.

I would imagine the "experts" bemusement will change, if he can not find the

"trick".

Your short contest entry leaves a lot of questions about what is real and what is not in your readers minds. You did a very good job with is post. Good luck with the contest.

The artwork that you have presented is apt for the content of this outstanding work. S©ances are mystical and difficult to know if they are fake or real, the fact that the plant expert is bemused, adds to the mystery, each one has to decide for themselves.

Great writing. The ones I have investigated were not real because of one reason: language barrier. If you say you're a German doctor, you should speak German. Family is easier to simulate, but for a linguist, the medium can't say things that don't fit the family pattern. Some mediums are cleverer, if you come from Atlantis and speak Atlantian, how can an expert verify it?

Take a chance on a Seance
The spirits might approve
and if they don't then those who won't
will think they're in the groove

This is my second review of a 55 word contest entry this morning and the competition is heating up. In the interest of full disclosure, I have entered the contest as well.

There's a lot to like about this supernatural story. I think you've teased the story really well by calling it "Seance," and the sub-title is clever and inviting.

The artwork is well chosen and apt for the writing theme. You have presented this writing in a large bold font which is beneficial for our older readers and does not detract from the story.

The writing is error-free and I saw no spelling, grammar or punctuation errors. It is a scene to tease the skeptics.

The strength of the writing, for me, was the narrator left the story decision up to the reader. I got to decided what is meant by "bemused," based on my own degree of belief or skepticism. And I believe ...

I believe this story will do well in the contest.

Good luck, good writing and I hope to see you around the site.
