Blue is a very pretty color, until I remember my father complaining about people who put up blue Christmas lights. I enjoyed the poem and indeed, when one looks around, there is always something to keep them from feeling blue.

I enjoyed this well written poem. Love your notion. Mike

Used to be my favourite structure at one time. Your nonet is like a haunting refrain.
"In such surroundings,
could I or you
ever be
shades of
blue?"

Very well done.

Cheers
Rose

This is astounding! It seems as if it were written with such ease (which I know it was not) and without any demanded structure. It just flowssssssssssss into one perfect thought.... Gorgeous artwork! Syllable count true to form. I really, really enjoyed this one!

I really love the picture I see in my mind when I read your poem! Morning glories are such beautiful flowers and I just love blue jays even if they are kind of mean!

Sometimes no matter how hard you try you cannot be sad. Although I do not know why you would try to be sad. Good poem great flow great rhyme. I enjoyed this read!

Beautiful poem. A Peacock is indeed a colorful bird. Your words flow smoothly and with heart. The imagery is great. Love the picture.

You certainly give a positive spin to the word 'blue'. Hard to be blue when it comes with so much beauty. I notice Sawyer is wearing blue in today's photo. He is just too, too cute!

Hi, Brooke, I guess this is meant to say that nothing is as beautiful, attractive, and powerful as the peacock... hope my interpretation is right. Wonderful nonet, I admire your imaginative use of the color blue.

Belinda, I'm saying that the peacock and the other beautiful blue things found in nature make the person seeing them realize it is difficult to have the blues/to feel sad when living among such beauty :-)
I have a new course coming up on women poets - I would love to have you join us, Belinda :-) Brooke

I miss that point. Maybe I should have absorbed the nonet longer... now I will read it again. The blue and the blue, I get it! Thanks.

All of these blue things in nature that you mention are lovely to look at it, unlike the negative connotation that " blue" can bring to mind when thinking of one's mood. How could one ever be blue looking at a peacock spread its wings or morning glories awakening with dawn? Very nicely done, Brooke, as always.
