Wow Jill! That is so sad. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Your poem asks the one you love not to watch you die. My husband died of Cancer and I couldn't leave him. I remembered all those sweet moments we shared and even death couldn't take that away from me. I remember him as the virile young man I married. God bless you both.LOVE Nancy

Powerful poem. Such raw honesty of this person's journey. I like the line, please, don't look away and don't look back. For a moment, you drew this reader into a heartbreaking and emotional world. judester

Excellent poetry. so much heart is obvious by the writer.
I liked these lines in particular although the entire piece is briliant and heart-wrenching.
"In these last moments
we have been given a gift
recognizing ourselves
as we onced looked to one another
rejoicing in the knowledge
that this is not an ending
simply .....another beginning"
Blessings to you and yours. Bob

I enjoyed the poem. It was a beautiful poem in many respects.
I was touched by what at first appeared to be another love poem, and it was but with a difference.

A very well-written heartfelt poem, I think we can never be too soon in writing down our thoughts and memoirs, rather than too late when it can't be written down anymore.

That is incredibly sad, and brave. I have seen too much of this dreadful disease, and my thoughts and prayers are with you. Your poem isn't one that asks for pity, it asks for the one you love not to watch your ending. That is a lot to ask of the person who loves you. I couldn't leave my husband. Your poem, tells of the wonderful times you and your loved one shared as a young couple, that was beautifully written, and so touching. You are an incredible lady, my friend. I hope you don't suffer too much pain, and can write many more poems. My prayers are with you both. xsx Sandra

Jill,
Your poem is so well crafted with imagery so crisp, that one feels they are right along side of you, holding your hand and spending precious hours and days, whole your body refuses to carry on, but yet your endearing spirit is alive and well.
I could choose to believe that your poem is entirely about sadness, but I won't because woven into the verses, is bravery and the notion that you have made your life meaningful.
Sharing your remaining vital forces with your friends and those who love you, is a fine tribute to your time here upon the earth.
Although as I write these words, tears now begin accumulate at the windows through which I see the world.
Your poem is one of the most touching and revealing of ones self that I have ever read!

Good morning George,
Thank you for your elegantly-penned, generous and candid impressions of " when the end draws near". I am so pleased that you found this title because it is not currently posted which tells me that you were checking out my portfolio. You may enjoy " blue", " wherever you go" , " martini"..
I love " forgotten man". You have a splendid talent!
Keep writing, you succeed completely.
Until next time,
Jill

Absolutely heart wrenching that this can happen to someone as incredible as you. You broke my heart with the pain you caused me thinking of your suffering, me girl. My heart and soul goes out to you and I wish I could just hold and cuddle you till the end, to share in your pain and soak up your rivers of tears you must have cried by now. Please be strong for you and us. Now my keyboard is all wet you silly girl with diamonds in her hair.
I'll pray for you and the suffering that you ultimately suffer alone in the darkness of the nights, but know I will be a warrior for you in those dark hours.
Keep well , me friend.
Always yours
Cool bananas and warm regards

The pain of loss that may come can be more powerful than the actual loss. One should not anticipate what may not happen the way they imagine because it will cause them unbearable grief. Embrace what is, as the future will unfold and may not be what you think it may be. Life is precious, and even if we are dealt cards that seem bad, we can still make a good hand out of it and enjoy the play.
