This must be what every cancer patient feels thinking of her mate...My aunt felt this way...I know..
A poem that is bittersweet and heartbreaking but with hope.
Write on.

"Walk away from me
this final time
with more courage than either of us
has ever shown before"

That was the stanza that struck me. I know I could never leave my spouse, and I can't see her ever leaving me, although I would want her to.

You have shown great courage yourself in sharing this poem with the FS community.

Cool hair!! This is a beautiful - sad at times - romantic poem. May there be MANY years before it is time to write your memoirs. Well done.

Thank you for sharing your heart. ..Penny

Wow! This is a very powerfully emotional poem. I enjoyed reading. I'm truly at a loss for words and that's not a good way to write a review.

This is a poignant poem and one which left me quite bereft. It is as if you are saying goodbye to this world. I hope I'm wrong, but that's how it comes across to me. It's beautiful and has left me in tears. All the best. Ulla:))

I interpret this free verse poem as a tribute to the fighters and the survivors of breast cancer. The deep affection and the tenderness show in your direct poem addressed to

"my friend
my lover
and
best of all
my muse"

as she battles the disease. I particularly love this line:

"there exists the whole of a poem in those eyes
a poem that I know
I will never write"

because it speaks a truth. Your final lines offer hope for another beginning instead of dread of an end.

Thank you for sharing your talent and for caring for the fighters and survivors.

A courageous piece of self awareness I believe. What in medieval times used to be called a "pleynt" - a complaint without actually complaining if you get my meaning. The revages of time play merry hell with our persona but should not be aloud to do so with our ego. The shell gets a bit careworn but the oyster inside is just as tasty as ever and is still creating the pearl.

The art work is great
for these words written
As human beings we can
become impressed by many
things within our lives
as human beings we have
to die one day.

This poem took my breath away. It was so sad and tender that it had me in tears. I liked the pink background colour and the sweet nature of the poem. Thank you for sharing this poem.

A special relationship will touch us in a manner that cannot be described with pen and ink. This is very well written with insight into our very being.
