I thought this was very clever. You did a great job of describing something that I have wondered about for a long time.

Horror, for the moment, is all the rage,
Acted out in books, and even on the stage <<< How right you are, I just don't get it!!
Why do we love vampires and the walking dead. <<< I have never been a fan. Remember Bela Lugosi? He gave me the creeps as a kid.

Who gave vampires and werewolves so much power?
Seemingly able everything to devour? <<< I'm totally confused about who's supposed to do what?? You're right, they have too many powers.

(They didn't have it way back when),
I guess things were much simpler then. <<< I guess the lids today have to have "super villains."
Today they transform and move with the speed of light,
And vampires and werewolves against each other fight. <<< It's hard to root for either one.

Are they around the corner, is your boss one too?
(That last part I'm afraid just might be true.) <<< Ha! ... I had one that made me wonder... Clever!

This was a fun read and I'm glad I'm not alone in feeling this way. Well done!... Regards, Robert

Thanks so much for the great review. I'm so glad you enjoyed it. I just reviewed a horror story about the walking dead, almost threw up. Really gross. I had to read some of it with my eyes closed. =} Thanks so much again Robert. Have a great day, Rox

this is a wonderful take on the trend in the 'creative' arts. yes, indeed it is different today that 'in the day'. i love the way you presented this, the couplets are great and each one says what you want to say without feeling forced for rhyme. it is clever and to the point. a job well done. good ending too :-)

Thanks so much =} It was fun to write and I had a bit of help from a reviewer who felt I needed to change one line, and I have to admit it is better.

Oh I love this. Being a writer of horror and thriller stories this made me crack up. This is a fun poem for all ages thank you for sharing it. I think I will have to share it with my teenager who is a fan of twilight she will get a kick out of it.

Brilliant work. A poem that makes fun of what we love best. I love a good murder mystery myself, but can't bring myself to watch monsters and gore on screen.

Your little observation was full of lightness and was a pleasure to read

Although this is a long piece, it is a good read. The message is clear and to the point. The rhyming is good. The flow is smooth and the harmony is where it needs to be. My attention was commanded by this piece and held throughout. Good work.

I very much agree with your work. Very well done, graphing the many ways we like to scare ourselves, and then we complaint that we can't fall asleep! No wonder. Give me musicals, romance and a good thriller, once in a while!

Even the little zombie looks scared. LOL
I can't watch the Jason or Freddie movies. And there are so many newer ones that are worse, if that's possible. But you talk about mostly vampires and werewolves which I can handle because I know they are fantasy.

Your poem is great fun. I enjoyed reading every one of your perfectly metered and rhymed couplets.
Now back to mystery and crime/police action shows where the good guy wins. LOL

I can't watch Freddie movies, they are horrible and I remember one of my little 5yr old sunday school kids telling me he had watched Freedie Kruger and he was very upset. I wanted to smack his parents. Thanks for the good review.

Oh boy that was such a great read. You cinched a six from me for that last line. Such a grand free style in so many ways. I feel the same way and hate Halloween. Unless of course it was all Disney. I'm going to have to fan you because this is the second poem of yours I've loved. It's because of your creativity too. And I'll have you know after that last poem about using cuss words I keep wanting to and did for the first time in one of my writes. I'm sorry I apologize I kept trying to take it out but it just needed to be there. I promise to use them wisely if I do it again. Lol! Oh and never the f word.
Wonderful and fun!
XO

This is really a fun read. About the vampires, werewolves, the Avengers, Spiderman and Batman ( for the last three, the bad guys can be horrible too), our love for horror stories go on.
Perhaps, it is not so much the horror, it is the thrill and the excitement to be frightened by these creatures of night (usually). WE need gruesome and scary horror to intrigue our mind and an excuse to hold our lovely girl friends close and tight (LOL).
But the real vampire are at work (I mean the office) where they can suck the life blood out of us - leaving us breathless before they bite repeatedly (now that is really horrifying). Good imagery and ideas. I like this poem. Cheers, Ritchie.

Thank you Ritchie. We are a funny lot that loved to be scared. When I was young I could handle it better, but now days they are true horror films. But like I said I do like a good serial killer, the new show Following is one I really like, for now, so maybe I'm a bit twisted too. And I love Dateline about all the murders. Oh no, I really am a sickie. ={ Thanks so much again.

My first real horror movie was Exorcist and even today I had this chilling spine. People who love scary movies are wonderful people because to the sickie everything in life is so wonderful, including horror. They will freeze inside the horror movie cinemas. But when they come out of the cinema, they will smile and said crazy horror movie. If one can find joy in a horror movie, serial killers an murder movies what do you think would happen if we show them a beautiful pink rose. Sickie = lovey-dovey. Lol. Cheers.

LOL. Yes, people (most people) DO love to be frightened. It gives us a 'rush' to be so frightened and then get up and walk out into the sunlight, undaunted. I loved reading this and loved your cartoon picture! Vampires and Werewolves never were 'my' thing- but I loved 'Night of the Living Dead'. Oh, does the yellow color mean someone's a coward? Thanks- I loved this. Betty
