Her heartbeat flutters wildly at the last.
How sad those gathered round can't feel her joy
as through the seasons of her girlhood past
she races to embrace the blue-jeaned boy.

Your poem reminded me of the movie "Notebook". Tender feelings of love and hope, to have a relationship just as strong, powerful and enduring.

Thank you for taking the time to read and review my words. I think we all wish we could find that kind of love, but most of us will just have to use our imaginations. - Wendy

AH! Long wait. Surely, long wait and long expectation can make the soul wary. Good thought and good flow in this. I specially like this lines...'Her heartbeat flutters wildly at the last.
How sad those gathered round can't feel her joy
as through the seasons of her girlhood past
she races to embrace the blue-jeaned boy.' I cherish your use of 'girlhood' and 'blue-jeaned boy.'

You have done a good job in your poem of taking a tough subject to discuss without sadness and put a positive spin on it. Some may never understand a person being ready to move on.

Thank you for taking the time to read and thoughtfully review my words. Yes, I hope that I am ready when my time comes, but I have always understood how someone who had lived a full and long life might be weary of it and the aches and pains and be ready to move to the next level. You are the first to have mentioned that part of it. - Wendy

Wendy!

Wow, that was really, really good. I'm not a huge fan of romance writing in general, but you really hit the nail on the head with this one. Well done, my friend, well done.

You move through at such a great pace, really allowing your reader to enjoy the moments. Seems to all be in good timing and rhythm.

Thoroughly enjoyed this one.

Thanks Anisa. I don't write romance poetry per se. I would feel the fool, trying to seduce someone with an x-rated rhyming missive or persuade them my love was real in a little ditty. But I do love to tell stories and find poetry to be my comfort zone to do that. I am glad to hear that you enjoyed it. - Wendy

Married for sixty years and lost the husband fifteen years ago.
On this day where everyone gathered mourning, she was not, in her silent box.
For now she can finally joined her blue-jean boy of childhood days.
On the beach they had their fun filled days, joy and footprints in memories.
Nothing will ever changed with the passing of year.
Now the release and the meeting to be together again made her heart fluttered wildly in anticipation.
This was a love story that lasted sixty long years.
Simply beautiful write and heartfelt story of a love that never died even in the end.
Marvelous captivating love story of marital bliss. Brilliant!
Cheers, Ritchiesszzky.

    Hi Wendy,

If you are that person in the story, I must take my hat off to you. How often we get to be so lucky? Happiness and being lucky is not about the dollars. It's about the life with someone we loved and till death do us part analogy.

I have just started a multi-author book and would be honored if you can add your tender loving touch to say something about that person we loved or even hate, in a chapter or two.
This book can be our joint effort to share among the Fanstorians as a memory or memoir that we can keep before we end up in that box that you mentioned, LOL.

To add a chapter or two follow this link:

    http://www.fanstory.com/displaystory.jsp?hd=1&id=586620

    and then click "Add Chapter".

No rules to this book, any title and any form of writing about someone. I will review all chapters in the book.
    Cheers, Ritchie.

Just coming off the flu, I have a ton of reviewing to catch up on first, but I will comb through my stuff. I would be honored to add to your interesting collection. No, the people in the story are just from my imagination and little girl dreams of what love could be. I wish it were true though.- Wendy

No worries. I always dream too.
But dreams do come through even though a wee bit late, LOL.
Take your time dear. I read your profile and I must say I will give it the "Best of the Best Humor" Purple Ribbon Seal.
I laughed so loud at 3 am now, that the neighbors must have thought I went mad at the computer screen, LOL.
Hope to see your midnite scribbling notebook soon in the our book, LOL. Cheers, Ritch.

I enjoyed your contest entry. though not normally my cup of tea, you have many really good lines - she flies across the dunes on sand swept toes, years shed like clothes, etc. good work.

Hello there and thank you for your very kind review. I appreciate your words and the extra little green marker that means I succeeded in reaching out with my thoughts. Let me know how Jill is doing if you think of it. I got the impression that she is not on site and I hope that means she is resting and is taking care of herself. - Wendy
