Where do we go after death?12 total reviews

A sweet and heartfelt poem. A neighbor of mine passed away two days ago and it got me thinking how many people leave this world in the fall and winter. Your first two lines seem to follow this same thought.
Only God knows the outcome of a life, but He gives us hope.
well done poem, my friend. Anita

Thank you Anita for your thoughtful words and review. I'm glad you liked my poem. It was written about my ex-husband. He died of a massive heart attact at his home Dec. 17th this past year.

Very nice, Jo, or should I say sad and thoughtful. You capture the aftermath of grief and loss very well in this poem. Your words ring heartfelt and true. Very well penned my dear.

Thanks Val, I appreciate you reviewing my work. I recently lost my two boys dad to a massive heart attack. Even though I had been divorced from him over 39 years it hurt. I had never stopped loving him as a person and wanted only the best for him. He claimed to be an atheist but I still hold out hope that maybe he had changed his mind and accepted Jesus as his Savior. I have hopes of seeing him again someday.

I'm sorry, Jo. All you can do is comfort your boys now. January is such a sorrowful month. I think people let go in this bleak weather. It was kind of you to remember him so sweetly.

Ah, the question that has been asked since man discovered his mortality. It will always be a good question, but I like to think that the answer is yes. You will see that person again. This was a tender piece that I really enjoyed.

Where indeed do the dead go after death. I guess no one will be able to answer that. In our dreams usually we can see them again..where else can we see them again? The missing and the longing do grip us often and we have to let go the pain slowly though we will never forget them. Time is a good healer. Cheers, Ritchie.

Hi Jo, time to look at the brighter side of life.
The latest in-thing is the multi-author book "Battle of the Sexes" due many requests from some members.
Wonder if ladies are better writers than men, LOl.
To add a chapter:

and then "Add Chapter". Good luck. Cheers, Ritchie.

You ask the impossible question knowing there is no earthly answer. You are left in your solitude and an earthly reality. This you describe perfectly in the opening verse. Then follows three verses illustrating your suffering, your mourning which you must pass through until the final realization that the past his dead and we cannot breathe life into it.Meanwhile love turns to sorrow and our lives are turned upside down,Death cannot cover life. Life is stronger than death. It takes courage to recognize it. -Ekim777

I am truly sorry to hear of your loss but the monument left behind is quite nice. The echo of "will I ever see you again?" when it is read at the last line, emphasizes the loss. I am not sure why the broken repeat of it when it is first introduced. I feel just the naked statement would be more powerful.

Thank you Ira for your kind review of my poem. I will consider your suggestion to not break the "will I ever see you again?".

Beautiful melancholy!
The first few words took me into a Beatles song. LOL. But I quickly recovered.
From one who recently lost a loved one, I can completely identify with the anxiety in the voice of this poem.
Thank you for sharing.

Thank you Ladonna for your kind words. I'm afraid I was never
a fan of the Beatles when they were "popular." However, over
the years when really listening to the words of their
songs I have become a fan. What song did it bring to mind if you don't mind me asking?

Now that I think about it, I think it was the Mama's and the Papa's. "All the leaves are brown and the sky is gray." Ha! I am no music expert.

Thoughts are shouted to the wind
"Will I ever see you...see you again" ... Surely the heart of this write and drew me in. I know all to well the "wonder". A very nice work. The artwork was a wonderful setting.... Regards, Robert

This is a good piece. It started off rhyming and then towards the end, it is a must that you stay consistent. The words made the photo come to life which is a good thing, I felt that. The flow was good but to make it great keep that rhyming consistent. Good job.

Thank you for your review and input. The rhyming wasn't intentional. I only meant it to be a free verse poem and the rhyming just happened. However, I will remember your suggestion.
