Hi friend,
Great telling of this story in a poem.
The flow is easy and the rhyme is excellent.
Nice alliteration with... War weary and wounded;
Snow flakes fell sounds like such a peaceful moment, a peaceful moment in time indeed.
Thanks for sharing.

War is such a sad thing. But I am afraid that there will be wars up until the lord comes.Very sad and emotional poem and yet it does show that we can get along and put our differences aside even if it is only for a short time. Good read and keep on writing.

Terrific picture
solid use of rhyming couplets
vivid and mood-creating descriptive detail
good alliteration in soldiers with sightless
strong commentary on the destructive and devastating nature of war
I love the contrast of war with the beauty of Silent Night
excellent alliteration in war weary and wounded
and in flakes fell
What a poignant story, Kay
How sad to think how many of these men went on to slaughter each other in the following days

Thank you so much possum. I believe those soldiers were taken away afterwards because they refused to fight. Modern soldiers can learn lessons from the past. Blessings, Kay XXX

Now you have captured a great moment here!!! The rhyming scheme does not seem to be forced. What a day this must have been. If it could happen again remains to be seen. Hopefully the wars will stop now.

Hello Aussie. Thank you so much for sharing this piece. There's even a movie on this and as I understand this part of history, those soldiers had to be taken off the front lines after this incident because they simply did not want to fight.
Beautiful words you sow on behalf of history.
I must bookcase this to share with my students of history.
Cheers.
