I love the art work so much here.

My grandmother had 16 children.

Two are living the rest have died.

What a challenge it would be to be a parent

To so many, the eldest children would help.

I feel your pain! My oldest daughter is 5 foot tall jusst like you. She has never had children and people ask her all the time if she is pregnant. Poor thing! You definitely captured feeling in this poem. Best wishes to you in this contest :)

Thank you Joy for reviewing my silly but serious poem. I feel for your daughter. I am a diabetic and have had this problem for a very long time. It seems no matter how much weight I lose I still have the large middle.

This is a fun read and anyone who has carried more than twenty pounds around for a while understands this poem. The rhyming and cadence is spot on, but the imagery is a-one. This is nicely done. Good luck in the contest!

Thank you rebekka for reviewing my poem and the Weight Watchers referral. I'm afraid they may not let me join. I think I might have joined and dropped out about a thousand times. :o) Sad but true. This year will be the year for me.

You're only two years older than me, Mystery Poet. I started running in 2006 when I was 55. I started jogging to get in shape for my retirement. I retired on June 30th, 2010, took July & August off, and then took a part-time job at a pet store. I'm still running... why not? I'm really only semi-retired. I work about 18 hours/week.
You know, in 2006 I weighed about 183 pounds. Now, after 1,748 miles, I'm down to about 165 pounds. My hips used to bother me... not any more. I ran 272 miles this year. You can do it too.
Love that picture, you're going to kill those scales!
New Years resolutions don't last with me either... two or three days, that's all.
I love your conclusion...
"I don't want to look pregnant anymore!"
Nicely penned! Good Luck in the contest!
cheers

Thank you Kimbob for your comments and review. Jogging is a fantastic way to get in shape. I have really bad knees so I use a recumbent bike and walk. Some days I have to use a cane to get around.
