This is such a beautiful story, Sharyn, really tugs at the heart strings. What a beautiful relationship between the two of them. I'm glad you didn't send her into talk with grandpa, that would have spoiled the happy disposition of the story, finding out he'd passed. Beautiful.

Thx so much, Jen. No - that wouldn't have been the ending we'd want, would it? Angels are much nicer - hmmm ... maybe that angel light should come into her dreams for just a moment ... now you've given me an idea ...

A special thank you for your wonderful '6', Jen! So encouraging! I don't think of myself as a writer of stories - more scripts and poetry - but I've had some really nice feedback from both these stories.

    Blessings, :) Sharyn

What a ripper. Beautifully written and timely for me having spent that recent time with my young grand children in Taroona. Weather was stable and pretty good down there. Cold out fishing, that's all. While up the east coast it was pretty wild with hail the size of tennis balls in parts of Queensland.

I heard about that hail storm! size of softballs was the report I got! wow! glad you didn't cop that in Tassie, Ralph! Good to hear from you again - and thank you so much for your lovely '6'. I really haven't written much in the way of straight "stories" before, so I'm "stretching" a bit - but so far, have been really happy with the way they've turned out. This one was based on a story my grandfather told me - but he was actually a cranky old bugger, so all the rest is wishful fiction! :))))

As usual, your dialogue sparkles. Love the relationship between Granddad and daughter. Skilful weave-in of background relationships that accounted for the distance between him and the son that later changed -- a miracle for both of them. What an ingenious way to prove the fairy's existence: talcumn powder, ferns and footprints. A sweet story, Sharyn.

hey spits - thanks so much - really glad you liked it. This was actually based on a story my real grandfather told me, but he was a mean old devil, so the rest was my invention!

How utterly enchanting, Sharyn. You kept me captivated the entire read. You captured the little girl so well, her bright nature, her innocence. And isn't he just the Granddad we all want? A wonderful tale, filled with magic and whimsy and hope.

Very enjoyable.

I found only one wee bit of spag. Mind you, I got so caught up in the story, I wasn't paying too much attention to anything else!

Bravo.

Wow, Av! Thank you so much for that! high praise indeed from the Mistress of Purple Prose! Actually I'm really happy with how it turned out - I don't think of myself as a story-writer - more scripts & poetry. So - a good stretch for me. I'll go find that spag - thanks for the eagle eyes! And a double thank you for the lovely '6'!

What a darling story. It's easy to see you still have a sense of magic because you portray your plot and characters with such authenticity. It is so important for us to maintain a sense of awe, be it in a God or the spirit world or in fairies. Well done, Sharyn. Hugs, Lou

You made me catch my breath as I read this. First it was a heartwarming story of a man and his grand daughter. Then it was a man who missed his late wife and counted the days until he could see her again. Then It was the understanding that this little girl has lost her first best friend. Lovely work. I will miss him.

What a wonderful, creative story you have created about the love of one's life, his loss, and his new love, Janie. Your attention to the details has made this one an especially delightful read for both young and old. Never stop believing!

You did an excellent job of telling your story from the elderly man's point of view. This is very well written with a glowing set of words.
