This was such heaven to read. What a beautiful relationship you painted between Grandad and Janie, weaved into a magical tale of fairies, and the sadness of lost. I felt the tears well up as the grandad talked of his imminent death. Stunning. SOM coming up I fear

I have no six for you but this is so lovely. I started crying part way through and I'm still struggling now as I write this.
Such a beautiful story of love and loss and coming together and the magic that should be part of everyone's life, not just for the children. Although not Christmas story this is truly a story FOR Christmas.
I would say that this is one of your best yet, the characters live and breathe and we share everything with them.
Bitter-sweet, to be read and read again.

oh Andrea, what a sweetheart! I'm so glad you reached for the tissue-box on this one! It's actually based on a story my own grandfather told me (and yes, there WAS a footprint, and a magic leaf by my glass) - though he, himself, was a bit of a meanie! And yes, it seems a bit like a Christmas story, doesn't it? Probably is, as it's set in late November, when the jacarandas are starting to fall in Australia ... :) Sharn

What an enchanting tale! I was totally engrossed. Nell came in the night to take her beloved home, and the Tooth Fairy did her job well. If only real life was like your sweet story!

I like the visuals in your story, and a wonderful portrait of a grand dad that reads to his grandchild. I think any child will love reading your story fully. Thanks..

This is a really cute story. I really liked the imagery especially this part...Janie blew into the room like a mini hurricane of tumbling words.
Great description of a child's endless energy.

Hey bd - please look over the review guidelines enclosed! Four stars MEANS: needs improvement, remember? I'm always open to suggestions, but would ask you to adhere to those guidelines please? :) Sharyn
From the site FAQ page-
The site offers a six star scale for ranking work. Here's a guideline:
Six Stars (Exceptional: Simply Outstanding)
Five Stars (Excellent: Enjoyable and no revisions needed)
Four Stars (Good: Adjustments needed) - For anything this rating or below, PLEASE provide feedback so that your rating makes sense and gives me understanding. :)
Three Stars (Below average)
Two Stars (Below Average: Needs lots of work)
One Star (Poor: Major revision required)
Please do not rate at a level that indicates you feel it needs revision or adjustments without sharing what those are; it is important for the author to know the reasoning behind the rating or it can be confusing. :)
Thank you for stopping by and we hope these reviewing guidelines help those who are new understand how reviewing/rating works. For specifics on how to review the various different forms of writing (poems vs. short works, etc), see the FAQs part of the site under the 'INFO' tab. There is a lot of helpful information.

So special to have a granddad that spends time reading and talking with a special granddaughter. I thought your word pictures were awesome. Children and adults will enjoy this as much as I did!

This is the most truly-ruly special, magical story I have ever read!! Absolutely delightful! I have to admit, I really do believe in Fairies, and Angels, and I won't have anyone say otherwise. I could feel everything this dear grandfather was feeling, honestly I can't say enough nice things about this story, it is amazing, very well done, and I just wish I had a 6 to give it. Loved it!! xsx Sandra
