Such a light, sweet little piece here Sandra - I can just hear it being read to a little Sunday School class! You've really got the kids' genre nailed! :) Sharyn

That is a wonderful idea Sandra. You have such a talent when it comes to children and their poems and stories. I always know I am in for a treat when I read them. I will read this to my own Grandchildren if I get the chance! Love it! XSX Nancy

Thank you, Nancy! I will read it to mine over the internet Skype, this year, as I won't be with them. I don't like being away at that time of year. I hope you will have yours with you. Thank you for the sweet things you have written about my poem, just glad you enjoyed it. xsx Sandra

I needed to think about the title you chose for this poem. It does really fit in with the thoughts, but I needed to ponder on it to see how and why. I enjoyed reading this excellent poetic presentation... John

Thank you so much for this very thoughtful review, John. I was listening to some children talking about what they liked best about Christmas and it was mostly about Santa and the presents. I used the title mainly for the children to understand that Santa knew what Christmas was about and was sad to think that children didn't. Thank you again, John, I am so pleased you enjoyed it. xsx Sandra

I think what I like most about this poem is the blending of the two known meanings of Christmas: Jesus and Santa. I loved how you used mythical creatures to help teach children the true reason for the season. Truly excellent job.

Thank you! What a lovely review, I am so pleased you liked it. Children are so easy to teach if it is done in a way they understand. A bit of mythical magic did no-one any harm! Thank you again, HeavenlyDreads. xsx Sandra.

Sandra, I love the way this poem and its message comes through. Far to often in today's world there are many who forgets what this true meaning of Christmas is. Your stanzas 5 and 6 says it all. This is such a great piece of poem and so well done. The artwork you chose is very gorgeous and truly enhances this poem,,,,,,Jim

solid rhyming couplets
good alliteration in fairy flying
What a great discussion of the true meaning of Christmas and why Santa is sad when people lose sight of it and only care about the presents :-) Brooke

Thank you so much Brooke. The idea came to me when I was listening to some children talking about what they liked best at Christmas, the presents seem to be at the top of the list and the birth of Jesus relagated to the bottom. I thought it was so sad. Thank you again for your lovely review. xsx Sandra

I have two over-indulged grand nieces - they receive enough gifts each year to start their own store. I stopped giving them gifts years ago when I went to my nephew's Christmas gathering years ago when they were still in elementary school. I had spent a great deal of time searching for gifts I thought were appropriate for their personalities, but by the time I arrived at their house they had already unwrapped gifts from two sets of grandparents, their parents and multiple aunts and uncles. My gifts were heartfelt but not expensive as I did not have the money for expensive. They quickly tore the wrappers off my presents and then literally flung them into a pile of toys without spending five seconds with them. That cured me of giving to those who only are into collecting loot.

I know exactly what you mean, mine are the same, too many presents. I have been putting the money I would spend on them into a savings account, it might mean far more to them when they need it for college or university. They do get far too much these days, and we can't afford it any more. No-one can these days. We learn the hard way! :)

Cute story in a poem, and a nice way to remind children of the real meaning of Christmas. Good rhyme and meter, and a good message.

This created an initial image of children wide-eyed and mouths agape when they heard that Santa is sad....they would do anything to make him smile again. This is such a lovely festive poem, with a message that maybe gets ignored a little too much in todays society. Fantastic writing.

Thank you so much, Tony for your lovely review. I do wonder a lot about the lessons taught today about Christmas. It is such a special time, and we should not let the true meaning of Christmas be forgotten. Thank you again! xsx Sandra.

Hi Sandra. This is a lovely poem that reminds children and adults that Christmas is not just about presents. All too often the baby Jesus is forgotten. Archie x

Thank you, Archie! I am so pleased you agree with me, we tend to focus more on the presents then the reason for Christmas. Thank you for your lovely review! xsx Sandra.
