Did all the Americans ask if you were from England. American cannot tell the difference between an English accent, Australian accent, or a New Zealand accent. I can! It's a big country and we don't spend much time teaching our young about the geography or history of other countries. Few, if any, American children can name the ten provences and three territories in Canada. Most don't know if the head is the premier or prime minister. We are a sorry lot.

No, you're not really. There is a 'sorry lot' elemen, that's all. I think every country has that. Our country is big, but it is largely desert and the population clings to the coast for most parts. People forget, like Canada England and Australia, you are still free... free to say what you like without being shot for it. Sometimes we all dwell too much on the negative. America has many wonderful things to offer and she hasn't stayed back in the dark ages. She is advancing and attitudes are improvi as they are here and in other Western countries.
When George Bush was here some years ago, he and John Howard were invited on to a panel program where there was a big audience shooting questions, a hostile media... you know the sort of thing, and someone from the audience threw a shoe at George Bush. He turned to John Howard and he said, "isn't it wonderful to live in a free country where people are allowed to protest?" Absolutely it is! Giddy

A very well written bit of HUMOR which just about decanonIZE the Queen. Obviously the writer has had too many Bud Lights. Maybe the queen can help our morales with "The Queen save God."

I am a terrible speller and can't even spell American English correctly. I am so pleased you got a kick out of this one. I remember the good old days when at the theater at the end of the last movie the picture of the Queen is shown while they played God Save the Queen. Everyone had to stand, and heaven help anyone who dared leave before the song was over.

Many American's don't have a sense of humor when it comes to England. I thought this was really quite cleaver and just wanted to share it. Glad you liked it.
