Wonderful, but this one might give children nightmares! :) You did a great job of making a silly story out of this race and comparing it with horse style racing with a 'purse' to be won at the end... a gruesome purse, at that! Well done!

of the whole set up. Tourtoise races in which rabbits are the jockeys--absurd, and ironic.

Nope, wrong guess about the ending - I actually got all but the last two lines in a rapid burst and then got interrupted. The 'killing' wordplay was a later flash of inspiration.
And yes, another win is chalked up!
