You are so, so lucky to have those beautiful memories of your mum. The way I see it, the more you were loved, the more you have lost, because being loved like that, so unconditionally, is the greatest love a parent could give. Sadly not all of us experienced the same, and the memory of a parent can conjure up visions of insecurity of sadness. You, on the other hand, have been blessed. Good luck in the contest with this beautifully written piece. Alexis x

Love goes behind the Veil to tether two individuals together. This is very well written with a smooth flow of words. Good luck in your contest.

This is beautifully written. Your love and pain both come through with the specific details of memories in youth.
The pain exploded in my chest like shrapnel--wow!
The irony of the last phone call doubles the impact.
I'm glad that four years later your mother's spirit came through with a message you needed to hear.
A powerful last line.

My mother came through to me from the other side several times shortly after she passed away. We agreed on a single contact word before she died. When a "rose" comes into my life, I know Mom is with me.

Mystery Author, I so enjoyed reading your story. So sorry for your loss. It brought back memories of the loss of my dad. Hard to lose a parent that you're close to. You're words brought your memories alive. Thanks for sharing with us and good luck in the contest.

This is beautiful. You can feel the warmth and tenderness of your mother in your writing. Your love for your children, also, comes across here. Very well done!

This story touched my heart, You speak of her with such feeling. In forty years I still remember my own mother--- as clear as yesterday sometimes.
Your word process is clear and I liked how you remembered even her perfume, and I am sorry that it hurts.
It is not strange that she paid a spiritual visit, I believe it must surely heal a little as she wanted it to. A very good piece of work even in its sadness.
