Love is a deep affection for someone or something that is dear. So I peaked with you in this. The love shows deeply in your expression of abandonment that it suffered and you glowingly celebrate its revival. I love the strong personification here refering to a car as 'She' and the engine (the heart. Good work.

Kace, I Loved it! I had a 57 Chevy to drive when I was a teenager. It was my Dad's and he never knew that I could drag race and beat any guy on the road!! This extremely well written poem gave my heart a flip and my memory a smile. Excellent. Carole

I like this poem very much. Its very interesting, and it has a lot of character. Writing poems can be hard. I like this one because it flows very smoothly. Very good poem. I enjoyed it.

LOL. I DO understand, Kace. I had a '65 Mustang that my ex and I restored when the boys were little. It was a red screamer. I finally gave it to my eldest son who is restoring it again telling his daughter stories about the car when he was about her age.

A great poem about a subject many can relate to - our first car - always hard to let go of, but the memory is always there. Good luck in the contest!

This car can sure talk. It is interesting to see the world through eyes of a car. Inanimate objects, yes, but I can't help but think they may have feelings, lol. The car taking care of the woman until she died was a wonderful way to come to a close. I'm just so sorry the car was crushed. I share your love for Australia. I wish you well. I love the picture of your cat! Katherine.

Some passions never die, do they? Very good Aussie and very telling. THis is really good:

He carried her until the day she died
Humans don't last - Buick cried
He became a compressed block
Scrap heap junk - recycled clock

My husband still drones on about his first car...almost fifty years later! I myself, like the smell of a NEW car. A fine poem you offer here, a fine art selection to drive your words home!

Great bit of personification. A car is good for this sort of thing since it's so universal. LOve the line where he carried her till the day she died. Nicely done.
