Beautifully descriptive...You did a nice job pulling it all together in a short piece and filling in the emotions that the character went through before she finally opened the letter....

Great job, such a sad story I cannot believe her mother died before receiving her letter. That is incredibly sad. I do hope it was not a true story, because that is a tragedy inside a tragedy inside a tragedy!

Take my virtual six.
This was such a well executed story. You gave your character depth, a personality of her own so that when she opened the letter and read the words we bled for all three, the mother, father and the child who now is fully grown with her own son.
At one time this was a contest prompt. Had this been in the mix there is no doubt in my mind you would have won.
Some improvement in paragraph seperation should be looked at, likely advanced editor, but you can put it back to basic and add the spacing.

I graciously accept your virtual 6! lol, thank you so very, very much for this really lovely review! I did write it for a contest prompt, about a dirty envelope with a letter inside, but after I had finished writing this, I went to put it in and found I hadn't read the contest rules right. I needed the letter to be opened and then the response. Never mind, it's all experience. And that leads me nicely into your last paragragh. I have had an indepth review about my punctuation and spacing and paragraph seperation, all of which I am so grateful for. But I am still getting it wrong, I have done most of the alterations, but not sure of some of the terms. I put the advanced editor on, but didn't really know how to use it. I still have loads to learn, even at my age! Thank you again, I really appreciate your comments. Sandra. xsx
I write evrything in word on my computer then copy/paste (after running everything through my own computer spell check) The only reson to use advanced editor is if you must add italics or bold to your story as regardless of whether you have it that way in your word file, it will not translate. ADVANCED WILL MESS UP YOUR SPACING, SOMETIMES ADD SQUARES OR OTHER HIEROGLYPHICS. You have to edit again, but go to basic and delete or add the extra spaces. Use basic as much as you can.
Brooke (Adewpearl) teaches a grest on line spag course. I've taken it and she is great, but I still have comma issues.

I enjoyed reading your story very much. Great lesson the Mom is teaching her son regarding responsibility. I sort of figured who sent the letter.
I thought it is well written, although you have a few lines skipped down, when they are part of the same paragraph.
