Have to go back and read from the beginning to do you credit, but I liked this chapter and the way you moved back and forth to give us the big picture.
Cheers, irish

Hi Irish, thank you so much for coming in for a read and review. It's hard reading the last chapter! I give you credit, believe me. Especially this one.

    Again, thank you so much,

    Gayle

GREAT ENDING. I am so glad the dogs survived. I know that may be strange, but I'm such a dog lover. You did a great job with this story.

Well, Barbara, thank you so much for the wonderful sixer and comments. I'm a dog fan, too, and cats. Such great pals, huh?

I so appreciate your reading along and after I get this one in the hopper, I'll send you a copy. I'm hoping for Christmas!

    Hugs and thanks,

Great chapter! Great job tying it all up. The timing of the police, Lenny and Jim was perfect. The only thing that kept niggling was the Ella and Terry's reunion. I think I was expecting more relief, or feeling of urgency, or poignancy or something. I can't put my finger on it exactly. Maybe it just seemed that Ella was awfully well put together, coherent for someone who was in her situation. Maybe it's just me. I keep imagining my reaction. I'd be a hot mess, tears, nonsensical blither, falling apart, trying hard to compose myself...they don't call me a drama queen for nothing...hahahaha! But, yeah, everybody is safe and Darius and Louise are goners!

Ella drank with languid sips, allowing the water to hit her stomach slowly. Last thing she needed to do was lose it. "My God, that's good."

==much better than the gulping, I think :)

"Please, honey, you're babbling. ==pretty understandable lol..I certainly would be!

She ate at a steady pace, listening while Terry went on about their search for her, their suspicions of Louise and the fight between Darius and the dogs, culminating with the alligator incident.
==I'm wondering if there might be more of a wide eyed or incredulous reaction on Ella's part to Terry's story.

With a vicious sideways swipe, it connected, sending Amy headlong into the river. It followed close behind, perhaps feeling a twinge of hunger.
===arrghhh...NO!!!

Another shot rang out and the alligator was still.

Two sleek black heads popped to the surface. Tony and Amy climbed onto the steps of the porch and collapsed at the girl's feet.
=YAYAYAYAYAYAYA that's me cheering==lol

See, Jessica, that's where your sixer went, lol. Looks beautiful there, too.

Yes, the reunion just 'never happened' not like it should. Will fix as well as much more personal interaction. I have to tell you, by way of explanation. I don't use an outline. I start out with a general story line and my characters just take over. Very strange happening, I don't know anyone else who writes that way. Truly, I don't know what's going to happen any more than you do. I know, really strange.

All great comments, of course, and I'll use them!

    Big thanks and hugs,

Rob does it that way. He just sits down and starts writing or typing. I try to jot down ideas..not really outline..I just have to figure out what I'm writing about. ..I figured you'd probably go back and add details, but thought you probably were just trying to get things wrapped up! Can't wait to read the finished product with a pretty, glossy cover!

Hi Gayle :)

I gotta give you a "Sixer" for the pro writing, although, I'm having trouble going from wolf to people in the narrative and dialogue. Apparently, strangers don't know about the wolves, weirwolves or dogs.

That's just me, no reflection on your writing.

The following line was confusing:

[Sated, a considerably improved Ella leaned toward Terry.]

Is "Sated" the right word?

Ted

Oh my, Ted, how super, a sixer! Thank you for that and for the wonderful encouragement you've given me throughout this whole book.

Sated after she'd drunk water and eaten ... made her feel better. Do we not like that word? Let me know.

    Hugs and big thanks,

The word [Sated] isn't everyday common, there's nothing wrong with it, except to cause a reader to pause. It did me. I thought I knew what it meant and I was right. Here's the full definition from my Master Writer program:

    sate 1 (st)
    tr.v. sat·ed, sat·ing, sates
    1. To satisfy (an appetite) fully.
    2. To satisfy to excess.

[Probably alteration of Middle English saden, from Old English sadian; see s- in Indo-European roots.]

I don't snuggest you change it.

Hey there Gayle
Personally I was rooting for the gators, but good dogs and friends saved the day. This is a nice story line. Thanks for sharing it

Oh man, just when things are looking up, another tragedy strikes. There's nothing like having your life saved by your dog, and them being afraid you'll lose them for their effort. Don't let them die, please! Well done.

Thanks so much for being so supportive.

Wow, a great chapter, Gayle. This moved so cleanly through the action and the aftermath, I barely had time to take a breath! Hope both dogs survive. Great job, my friend.

Hugs, Bev

Oh Bev, if I let anything happen to those dogs my name would be mud! They'll be okay, but sheeze, Tony's getting a little long in the tooth for this kind of action!

Been fun writing, now I have to do a real edit and then get it published.

    Two more chapters to go!

    Hugs and thanks,

Sorry to see your great story come to end -- as they all must at one time or another.

You're so very welcome, my friend.

Oh so good. I am glad Ella is safe, but I'm worried about Amy and Tony. I'm sure the vet can help both. I can't wait to figure out the motive.

Glad I got a 6 for this one, loved it. Dogs will fight and die for their person without batting an eye. Just saw on TV, 2 dogs finding home, 1 -300 miles, the other 500. Love dogs and story.

Wow, what an exciting chapter. Go Amy and Tony, what super dogs they are to protect their loved ones like that.We did get a little lost when it went from the Tony hearing Amy in the last chapter and finding Terry already with Ella. More likely just our foggy brains playing up on us.

Best wishes and dreams of both dogs being OK.

Oh my, Girls, look at that lovely arrangement! Beautiful and fragrant, thank you so much.

Yes, I think you might have missed a chapter when Terry first arrived.

Can't tell you how cool it is to see you again. And guess what? Freddie's back! It's been a great couple of months.

    Hugs and love,
    Gayle
