A typo- "how long as it been?"
this is spectacular. a lovely short one. Emotion-driving and captivating. Got hooked up to every part of it and totally drenched in the story line. Pitiful and joyful all at once. :D

It was a great theater script. I can visualize and hear everything. The description though there isn't a whole lot and the personality you gave the characters were great. A great write. I also like the dialog and continuous irritation the mother has throughout the years to go home was good too. It kind of shows that the mother is very persistent and strong. And a very desirable and good ending.

A mind-blowing piece. It was excellent!

Very sad, causing a big lump in my throat. My dad has first stages of Dementia, and to see him in his confusion, and remember him like he used to be...

You've portrayed good and bad days all in one script. And her lucid moments with her own bathroom - it was lovely to read. loved every bit of it. Thank you!

OK, This is one of very few I give six stars to! In the first place I LOVE theatrics , and could tell the stage directions easily (Exit stage left lol)

"her narcissism, her destructiveness, her selfishness, her failed attempts at loving us, her wounded courage ... and her attachment to ... beautiful ... things ... her treasure trove of rare antique cups & saucers.", beautiful extract ,a fine example of perfect characterization of old lady.suspanse is there, there feels an urgent need to complete the script to the end.

This was a very good play - it should be on stage - though I have a hard time visualizing it done with one person.

You played on all my emotions (I have an 84 year old mother living alone). I love the humor of the old lady and her crankiness, but also that you gave us just enough history that I felt sorry for her.

I love the fact that you made the staff understanding and also the sisters being "resentful" and uncaring - that made me on the old lady's side even more.

Great ending with letting her be happy and in her own home.

Well done!

thx so much Sandie - no worries about one performer - you'd be amazed at what a talented performer with a few lights, props and costume pieces can do. So glad you an identify, with your mom living alone.

wow, your stories and poems always have some spark or wit behind them, I could never write scripts so I admire this greatly. They are hard for me personally to follow but the way you explain in the beginning is so helpful. the nurse the hospital the dailogue was brilliant!

bravo!

Very well done. I lost my grandmother two years ago and it was after two years of Alzeihmers. This story shows hope, although for another's grandmother. It does one good to see positive possibilities. And it was in way others could perform it, thanks for the read

An enjoyable read but rather fast paced.I found myself getting lost in the rapidity of the changing characters and was unable to feel a real connection with any of them, not even the Storyteller. I wonder how this will translate on the stage if the transitions between characters are too rapid to give the audience time enough to catch on to who is speaking and who they are as a character. However, the different accents and specific dialects helped make that easier. The story itself was also easy to relate to and enjoyable to read. I liked the ending a great deal.

Not a problem Sonia - I wouldn't write it if it couldn't be done. I've personally performed all these pieces. Trust me, they work!

The format of this play reminds me of a Greek play, with the storyteller acting as the chorus. The only thing that I'm not sure I got: is this just one person doing all parts, or are there two people?

If it is one person, is that person supposed to change their voice quality when playing the different people?

I wish I could see it performed. It would be easier, for me at least, to see how this one man/woman play works in real life.

I've read some hollywood scripts where I found that I wasn't taken with the dialogue reading silently. And yet when performed by the actors in the movie, the dialogue turned out to be fantastic.

Ok. Scratch the first question. I just saw it's one person in the Blue Notes at the top. Are those blue words meant to be read to the audience ahead of the performance?

Hey DW - no, those notes in blue are just for FS people who are reluctant to read scripts! No worries. And yes, one person, the STORYTELLER, plays all the parts. (ME!) Don't forget that a theatre script is a much easier read than a screenplay. I personally have performed all my pieces and though the pace and changes of character can seem a little dizzying, trust me, it works ... you've got change in voices, change in body language (so you "become" each person you're playing), changes in light (new thought, you'd often seek a new light pool), costume pieces - you'd be amazed at how easy it is to suspend belief when you just have one person onstage working their magic. In addition to this, I have photos on the backdrop, and of course a "set" ... so you'd know immediately where you are ... seems complex at first, but not really. Blessings for being game to read a script!! Best wishes, Sharyn
