your poem is beautifully illustrated and presented and is in excellent Clarity Pyramid form
great focus on all that backbreaking work that goes on for months and months behind the scenes in order to achieve a few minutes of "effortless" beauty :-) I actually use practicing for a skating routine as my example when teaching form poetry class on site.
A poem like a sonnet or rondeau that takes a minute or two to read can take many hours to compose and work out and revise :-) Brooke

Brooke - thanks for taking the time to read and review my poem, Skate. What you said is so true - though the idea came quickly for this, I must have changed the wording (and in a couple of cases, individual words) a dozen times before getting what I was aiming for. I had not thought of poetry being like skating before - maybe now I won't get discouraged, but instead will know the piece just needs a bit more "practice".

The picture you used to headline your Clarity Pyramid writing prompt entry could not be more perfect. Skate - I never could even work roller skates, so the ice would never even be a try...come to think of it I failed Ballet even, if that is possible. I am in awe of skaters and I wish you luck in the contest - Dinah

I used to skate and play hockey. This brought back wonderful memories. To be an Olympian is a life, not just a hobby. Well done. If you are interested, Dorothy Hamil has a book about her life. I can't remember the name of it, but it is excellent~DEbbie

Great short poem, Reads almost like a sort of haiku-plus. I can only imagine how much sweat and tears are shed to achieve true excellence. I know it's the same with writing!

This is a great poem. Form is new to me and is very nice as it allows the words to flow in a rhythm that is not to forced. Mostly of course I loved the message of ALL it takes to go for Gold!

I am certainly not familiar with what is involved in earning an olympic gold medal, but I can imagine - a lot of work, sweat, blood, anger, frustration, determination and so on.

An excellent job of meeting the requirements with your seven lines and follow the format perfectly. When it comes to ice skating, I love to watch (my husband did spend a lot of time ice skating for a while). You capture the hours of hard work and the physical pain the elite athletes go through in order to go for the gold. Beautifully done, and best of luck with this entry. judiverse
