I recognize this dichotomy. Its one I ponder every day. An apt picture of the aging process set to rhyme, that is enhanced by the sad truth that you have shared. It's a toss up every day which side of the fence I'm on. The one that grows green with gratitude or the burned out pasture that feeds the vultures.

Great poem. I love how you explored both the positive and negative aspects. You go from such negative words such as'despised'and 'prolonged'to 'plentiful' and 'blessings'. I like the contrasts.

You are an inspiration!!
It can be so hard to see the beauty in the world when depression seeps in, but you are right, we should try to see it and enjoy what we can.
Tiny suggestion..
"I look at a world so beautiful"
I hope you have a beautiful day!!!

So sorry Debbie that it's this way. If I could take on your pain for you I would do it in a second. I wish it would just suddenly disappear. Sigh.

Yes, it is a bit bitter as I am 49 and having the problems of an 80 year old. Hope it didn't come off too strong because I do truly have much to be thankful for~Debbie

If I'm honest, seems all I do is whine << How true. I don't know why "how are you?" is such a popular greeting. NO ONE really wants to know! As one who suffers from a debilitating disease, I can really relate to this. Well done! :)
