I can see why this poem was a contest winner.
In reaching its audience, who could number in the hundreds, it seems to speak to only one person, specifically one person. That is no easy task to accomplish, making a poem personal and general simultaneously.
Words of Advice is an apt title too. Is a career in motivational speaking in the near future for this writer? Possibly. :)

    Actually, *fingers crossed* I'm considering making an attempt at self-publishing a book of poems. I'm also considering going back and polishing and finishing my novel on here called Midnight Terrors. :) I'm actually a HORRIBLE speaker! Especially in public.

    Great going girl. Hey, your latest poem As We Lay ... is grammatically incorrect girl. It should be as we lie.

I liked how you crafted this one. Creative and well penned.
Best part it conforms to all those rules for the prompt.

Your Free Verse "A Poem to You!" Poem, Words of Advice, is truly full of wonderful advice for everyone. Your poem has a very nice and smooth cadence too. It flows very nicely from one line to the next. This is the BEST and probably the hardest lesson to achieve: Love yourself, first and foremost,. Until you do, you can never truly love someone else!

Vary sensible free verse poem. For a young adult (I only presume) this writer is very mature and well informed about life. Ego tu spells out very well indeed. I wish I had the ability to know these good moralities and principles when I was growing up, instead I was already hooked to gin and tonics.
