I enjoyed your honest and informal account of what life is like for you in the aftermath of cancer and chemo. Most of us are closely acquanted with, or personally involved in the same sort of struggles you are enduring. I admire your courage and good humor. What you've written will help all of understand better. None of us know what trials we must face but God seems to give us the ability to adapt and those of us who rely on Him are the lucky ones.

Thank you for sharing this informative piece. We've had a couple of close calls with cancer in the family (pre-cancer cells and that sort of thing), and my paternal grandpa had a brain tumor related to cancer, so this is something that comes to my mind fairly often. I appreciate your honesty and detail.

You do have a word that needs to be fixed:

"At my age who sunbaths," (Change "sunbaths" to "sunbathes")

Thank you so much for sharing!

Thank you for the kind review and I will fix that little problem. I am shocked my spell check didn't catch it.

As you are in all of ours I am sure Barbara. What a journey you have taken, even just in the last year...but I'm sure the minor adjustments in your life far outweigh having the cancer in your body. Stay Strong!!

It's too bad some of the effects you describe will be so long-lasting. At least you are getting a sense of what you can and can't do. You did a great job of enumerating and explaining the side effects you've experienced. That's neat about the curly hair! It's great you've been able to adapt and work around the side effects you have. Those kittens are adorable. I can imagine Diva was mortified to find them in her basket! Best wishes coping with your side effects. judi

Diva won't go in her basket now, unless the kittens are in their cage. Thank you for the kind review.

You're welcome. Older animals, like older people, don't take kindly to change. judi

You're a brave woman, Barbara. You've written this in a matter-of-fact 'this is how it is' fashion. I sense no self-pity or sympathy seeking. You're sharing your experiences, thoughts and knowledge with us in (as you say) a friendly informal manner. Very admirable indeed. Your attitude must surely stand you in good stead long term.

I must say, I smiled at your author notes. Aren't animals just so precious? They give us so much.

HUGE hugs your way, brave lady.

Thank you for a well written essay that flowed and connected so well. You gave an excellent outline of all
the steps you went through! But most of all a positive
outlook for those going through chemotherapy! The picture
of the kittens was perfect and gave such a calming attitude.
Thank you......harmony13

You know, I really don't understand why you say such naughty things about those two sweet angels. Those were obviously reserving the spot for the basket's rightful owner, in case some drooling canine came by wanting to plop down in it! All if you should be THANKING them for their dedication. :-)

This piece was very informative for me. I thank you for giving me insight to a cancer patient's routines, thoughts and sensitive issues.

I wish you every blessing. :-)

I'm fairly new here, so I didn't know about your trials. I will certainly prayer that God heals you. I've recommended Dodie Osteen's scriptures to several folks who were in various states of illness, all are doing fine now. If you haven't heard of the scriptures, Google "Dodie Osteen Scriptures," and download them and recite them daily. I think you will be blessed and enriched when you read her story. Take care my friend and be blessed!
