Liked this. I intend to go traditional at some point. Hope my ego doen't get bruised too much when that time comes. But for now I'm beginning to enjoy at least a minor success with my first self published book, locally and immediate regionally anyway. You are a very talented writer, I believe. So keep it up my friend!!

Funny, well written poem. I enjoyed it.
Proud of your first rejection slip? ha ha..I burned mine. Would-be writers have to be either an egoist or a masochist. Probably a little of both.
I know that this is all in fun as I read that you are an
accomplished poet.
Now we all know it. Jody

No rejection slip here to find as I appreciate every rhyme. I liked the cadence to this poem and the message was tongue in cheek very cute.

Your work is really good. You're still going to get rejection slips. I have waaay more rejections than acceptances. Keep at it.

Oh, I love it...not that you got rejected, honestly I am very sorry, but your poem has me laughing hysterically! I about died when you used the word "writ" and then in the next stanza it came up again! I hadn't stopped laughing from the first time. You are very good so you better not stop! Give 'em hell! Terrific poem!

Thanks Lucy and I appreciate your sense of humour...the repeats were intentional...this is loosely based on a Pantoum I think but it blew out to Closet format by the end...
Cheers and thanks a bunch

What a trip! A perfect form for this with the repetition of key lines. Your usual delightful rhyme. Hey, I had enough form rejections slip to paper a wall. Instead I built a bon fire and fed each one to the flames. So much for your opinion, Mr. Editor. I like: I braved the bumpy ego trip.
Also your optimism: My wings, though clipped, demand to fly
I'll polish more and then submit.
Rule of thumb: send out a hundred. The odds are in your favor, you'll at least get one accepted. (And if it pays, maybe it'll cover the postage unless you get lucky and submit online.) Glad to see you back. I missed your wacky writing.

Yeah, it sucks when you get them. Though I didn't send out my manuscript to publishers but to agents and have gotten a multitude of rejections. The first one did hurt, but it also knocked me off my high horse. I thought when I first sent it out that my book would be loved and a flood of agents would be contacting me for representation. I needed that hit, to know how the publishing world really works. I'm not giving up though and glad that you aren't either. Good luck in your endeavors.

Thanks GM, I appreciate your honest and thoughtful feedback...we need honesty from critics...thats why its important people rate properly here, no matter what...it will put the author in good stead for rejection with the publishers! Hahaha
Thanks so much.

As a writing teacher once told me, Those that get published are not always the best writers but are the most persistent writers. My wall is also lined with rejection notices and yes, I feel rejected. Thanks for sharing this piece. I enjoyed the read.
