You dag! LOL. I have my first one framed. The remainder went into several buckets of water - enough papier mache to create a really tasteful 'blind publisher' puppet head (carefully painted in all shades of 'fuck you' brown) . I slip it over my right hand and bash it against the hard copy of my book, screaming "read it again, dickwad!" They never do.
I so love the honesty in your writes. Always straight from the hip (what I call the 'Wyatt Eart principle' - the old gunslnger would be proud.) That's what inspired me to write RAISING DANIEL the way I have. I know I break a lot of the rules (grammar). Short sentences that aren't really sentences, etc. Conscious choice of style - like an old American detective novel. "She walked into my office. Black dress, big tits. Legs that didn't quit" - you know how it goes. I amped it up a little for my purposes, but stylistically that is where I am coming from. Whoa. I digress (majorly).
I love the repeated lines. They so underpin the frustration, and the determination. Those flying pigs "snort" BTB, but toot away :)
Tom ate my sixers. Accept a virtual.

Well as long as you don't lose your sense of humor, and don't take "THEM" too seriously, you're doing just fine! Bit rude though, hmm? Good for you, using it as inspiration!

Get a good editor, have a marketing plan and Try self publishing if all else fails. That is what I am doing. I have a gotten a few rejections. Some of them really hurt, but I know my book is supposed to be out there and I have been working on it for five years. I like your poem you put a lot of passion into it, I really appreciate it..

Thanks so much...already self published. Wanna try the apparent "real deal" though...so need to get amongst it and brave the rejections I'm afraid. Appreciate the review and the sound advice.

Comment from Joan E.
Just remember they are not rejecting you--it is very often a decision based on timing or the context of the project they are focused on. Thanks for putting the experience in perspective and sharing your reaction in a poem. Your neat line "No fledgling wings ascend today" was well worth the repeat for emphasis. Talking about publishing, we missed you on the conference call today. -Joan

Thanks Joan...I was hoping SO hard this particular submission WOULD make the grade due to it being able to be used as an acknowledgement somewhere eles but NOT to be this time...perhaps I was a wee bit lewd for PruneJuice! LMAO
Me??? Haha...I am SO sorry I missed the call...urgent last minute dental appt and I ended up forgetting about the call until late arvo Thursday...which would be Wed evening I think your time.
Anyway thanks for the terrific review...had lots of connection issues lately and can't seem to stay connected long or the damn thing freezes up...shitty connection. Back soon in bigger capacity me hopes.
Cheers and thanks again
Phillippa xoxo

I hope the dental issues are resolved the connection problem abates. I have not yet had time to read the book-related emails, but I am sure they will bring you up to date. I think I have submitted twice to "Prune Juice" with no result. Keep submitting to journals as long as it's not too expensive. And continue to post on FS when you have the time. Many hugs- Joan

There are so many stories about masters who received rejection after rejection before being discovered. Your day will come. You wrote about your experience and emotions very well in this poem.

hahah C-P-J I realize now how much I've missed your humor and honesty around here. I actually remember the gong show too lol. Do not fret, my friend (and I know you won't) your day is coming! If you ever do some research, you will find most of the greatest poets, songwriters and singers were rejected many times before they found success. Your poem is funny as hell (hmm is hell funny?),witty, very well written in rhyme and meter. No F word though, lol. I thoroughly enjoyed the read, as I always do with your work! Take care my friend.
Cheers!
