A very timely piece, Honeycomb. Oh, war is such a tragedy for all and yet men keep starting them and fighting them, never seeming to learn from past mistakes. Well done
(I think using the word "boy" implies a son, rather than a husband. Perhaps "man" would be better? Just a thought.)

I wasn't thinking of him as a husband. Just a boyfriend.Just a kid who had his life changed by war.
Thank you for the great review. Can you imagine what it must be like for those young people? I thank God my son didn't have to go. Nancy

The beginning verses sounded like lovers to me, that's why I suggested the change. I love the piece Nancy.

They were, then he went to war and returned a stranger to her. Sad but it happens. Have a great vacation!

To begin, I apologize for the late review, Nancy!

"A world that's cruel and unforgiving.
A world that made life not worth living.
It's sad, the war has changed you so.
You're not the boy I used to know"

A very powerful write... hugs, Jack xxxxxx

This touches the heart and tells truths that many are not willing to address. Your stanzas and rhymes are just right. Thank you for sharing this.

I admired your title and rhyming couplets as you made your indictment about war. Your use of repetition is very powerful and the final repeat is quite evocative. -Joan

Nancy, I'm sure this is true. How could being in a war
not change someone; especially if you are shooting at
someone and trying to dodge bullets yourself. We know
that there are soldiers who have mental health problems
as well as physical after they return. Well written.

But I am sure it tells the story of many. I don't know if it was a good or bad decision, I only know we paid a very high price with our men and women in the service, way too high. Thank you for sharing.

This is very powerful and it makes me a bit uncomfortable which is alright. My youngest was in Iraq at the height of the battle and is now flying Blackhawks in Afghanistan. We don't speak of war. It's communicated in our eyes.

Yes I remember you have a boy over there. I pray he will be okay. How much longer will he have to be there? Thanks for the review Diane. Nancy

Nancy, This is very nice. Isn't it sad how many men and women have lost their lives in war. They must be so afraid while they are in battle. We will never know what goes through the minds of soldiers. This is a wonderful piece. It's thought provoking. It makes me, the reader, think about the soldiers, when in an ordinary day, I don't think of them. Blessings to you. Carole

Shhhhh! The fun part was Jim and I but he had already been in the service and never saw any action. I can't believe it looking back, that I actually got in that airplane. I would have followed him to hell I guess. LOL. I don't know why I added the war story. Devine guidence I suppose. Thanks for the review Linda. And big thanks for the six!!! Nancy
