Excellent. I have cared for many patients of this dread disease and pray I never fall to its claws. You have so well put into words what a person with A would feel. Poignant and compassionate poem.

This contest entry is really good! I have been reading them all, and each one gives a different but similar slant to the illness, whichever way it is written, it still comes across as a heartbreaking time for the family as well as for the sufferer. Good luck in the contest! xsx

This was sad but well penned, I think you did a great job for the prompt contest and this is a great submission.

Made we stop and think of all we take for granted.
Excellent bc :)

Edit check:

"I think the poor demented (sole) has confused me with another" // soul (sole is bottom of foot or shoe or fish:)

Well spotted, Maureen. (I was going to pretend it was really a story about a fish with the problem, but thought the better of it!) Take care, wc, I think of you often. Love Alexis xxx

It is so sad when a mind degenrates and knows that it is doing so. Your poem is a testament to the ravages of Alzheimer's Disease. Excellent imagery. Best of luck in the contest. Blessings, Linda

I hate Alzheimer's. It's the thing I fear the most. To not have memory must be unsettling at best, terrifying at worst.
I think your poem states it well. She keeps wondering why these strangers insist they're family.
Good job!

This was a great writing prompt to make people aware of the horrible isolation this disease causes for all concerned. Thank you so much for your review. Alexis x

I can see why this has an exceptional rating, it is riveting. My grandmother had Alzheimer's and you described this so well.

The rhyming makes it easy to read. All I can say is GREAT job!

You are very good at poems also! Amazing!! clap clap clap :-)

Your work follows the guidelines set up for the contest. Your ryhme is good and the structure is strong with a tone of sadness that is of course Alzheimer's

Darn competition rules didn't allow me any author's notes, or I would have been able to explain that the poor soul who had Alzheimers was really a fish! Thank you so much for the splendiferous six, EPH, I really do appreciate it, as well as your eagle eye! Alexis x

This is so sad for the ones that are caring for the one with the disease. I liked this poem and can feel the trueness of what it must be like (which I fear this disease terribly) to not know.

Yes, it is a heartbreaking disease and immediately conjures up the expression 'There but for the grace of God go I,'when I think about it. Thank you so much for your review, it is really appreciated. Alexis x

Thank you so much for your review and appreciation of the little bit of humour within it. To be honest, when this horrible disease hit my mother, she would invariably state that everyone around her was mad, implying that she was the only sane one! Alexis x
