Another fine poem, Alex. You have described in detail what a person would feel and think, having this horrible disease.
Well done and may I say you are a fine poet as well. Your cadence is bang on and flows so very well. Rhymes are flawless.

I hope you don't mind, but I added a (and maybe more: certificate to your poem.)

I can't thank you enough for taking the time to look this out, and for your generosity in placing a certificate on it. My Mum was a bit dolally in her late eighties, but she always knew who we were! I can't imagine how it must be for the loved ones of people who have this awful disease.
    My thanks again,
    Alexis x

This is just so sad =(
Not because the poem is not good but because it is what the poem actually made me feel.
I, myself, am in constant search of my identity given that I do not have dementia.
What more for those who suffer from it?
This emotion I feel sure is beyond sadness...
I cannot seem to find the right word for it at the moment.
(I am so amazed how you tried to show that you are a genuine sufferer of this disease. You completely forgot all the rules to be followed in this writing prompt! =D

Thank you so much for your lovely review. Yes, this writing prompt made me consider things I've never even thought of before, and more importantly, how we should appreciate what we have here and now. Alexis x

I was thinking about you today and realized I haven't seen anything by you in awhile so I figured I'd come check out your page!

Well done. This was so eerie to read and at first I thought it was about depression or emotional disconnection. Then I read your notes. Very emotional writing!

Good job.

This is poem made me really sad. I don't know what's it like to go through this disease, but I feel like you captured some of the thoughts that must go through someone's mind as this happens to to them. There is one line, "I think the poor demented soul" is a bit dark and harsh compared to the indifferent tenderness that is found in the rest of the poem. This is nice work though. Thank you for sharing.

To be honest, the idea of not knowing who you are scares me to death. It did me a lot of good, in a funny kind of way, to consider how it might feel. Thank you for your really understanding review. Alexis x

This is very well done. I might drop the "and" in:The curtains look familiar though, and their pattern cuts the haze

And a wonderful ending. Brooke

I find it terribly hard to say 'great write' when the subject is one such as this. I am totally scared to death of this 'A' disease that I neither say it's name nor write it.

I think you handled this with grace and compassion...Dinah

this is such a sad, touching
write, Alexis... I can't think
how I missed it, unless it was
for a "blind" contest entry...
I checked on your portfolio
because I was wondering why
I hadn't seen any of your work
recently and found this.

Well-penned, my friend - you've put a lot of thought into this.

Margaret

I think this is a wonderfully insightful poem spoken from the point of view of someone with Alzheimers, and a very worthy entry to the Alzheimers Poem Competition. Good luck :) Tina

What a sad disease. Your well written poem explains the confusion of a sufferer who is unable to remember the significant people in her life. Good luck
