Hello, Barbara.
So, surgery was not to be avoided. Poor Anna. The injuries are so many! It's just great that you've been publishing the SAFE site and the Domestic Violence Hotline at the end of each chapter. This entire write (from the beginning)has been an important social commentary, and well researched.

this is very well written, barbara, you did a great job writing this chapter where anna is rescued from bobby but now has to heal from her injuries and troy is thinking he could have done more to protect her.

It doesn't sound good for Anna. She has taken a horrible amount of abuse. I can't imagine what would cause him to treat her like this. He would have to be completely insane. Will this woman survive this nightmare? If she does, she might be permanently damaged. This is a very sad situation.

I'm a little confused by the medical stuff, barbara. A spleen in like a gall bladder but for blood instead of bile. If it's ruptured it allows blood to fill the abdominal cavity. It has to be removed. Never heard of partially removing one - it's not something one needs to live.
You have a couple of short paragraphs with the EMTs and calling home that are unnecessary. Paul can say he called home while he's talking to Troy in the waiting room. Going from the house directly to the hospital would pick up the action a little.
All in all, a good segment. :) nancy

this is another excellent chapter, a very sad chapter and a sad book that you depict excellently. you approach the abuse both from the angle of the perperter and victim in a realistic manner which i believable and realistic without going over the top. the road to recovery is a long one that many people dont reach the end of it often has some effect on them for the rest of their lives.

At least she's alive but now I have another WEEK to get through..trauma city...would it do any good if I prayed for her????? I found myself praying for a situation on a soap opera when I was in 10th grade..that was when I stopped watching soap operas. Have a great week. God bless.

It probably wouldn't do any good to pray for Anna, but you can pray that I finish this novel soon. Also, one of the ladies on my first grade team father died this morning. He had been sick for awhile. She's taking it very hard. She's a daddy's girl, which I understand, so am I. Anyway, her name is Amy.
