Bravo my friend! Very well written. I could picture you going through that closet. I am so guilty of never buying myself anything, I need to go shopping! You reminded me of an episode of Sex in the City, or maybe it was part of the first movie, not sure. Anyway, very well written. I love when you wrote the check at the end. Very nicely done!!! Glad you kept the power suit and ditched your son's wedding day outfit which you reminded you of the bitch wife!

the irony of it all is this was a true story. With best intentions I agreed to a charity clothes drive...slightly different reality. I gave up on the T-shirt phase andcan tell you that I don't need to do laundry that often. Thanks for a kind review.

Hahahaha! I knew it was true!!! I loved this true story!!!

How often I look in my closet and come out saying I have nothing to wear even though the closet is packed from wall to wall. This is such a good story of the process to take inventory of what we have. Me and my yo-you weight - I keep my favorites in the variety of sizes too. Very well written.

T'was just a glimpse into the secret world of women. Thanks for reading and the feedback.

Well. I didn't quite believe that describing the act of throwing out old clothes could be quite so interesting, Ingrid, but you managed somehow to make it so. This is universal in its humanity and well said. Best of luck in the contest. Be well. Larry

Spiritual Echo, Great Story! I can relate! In fact, I just took a break from closet cleaning, when I thought that I'd check out a couple stories to read on FS. So glad I did! Your story made me decide to pitch a lot more clothes, than I was in the process of doing. Loved it. Thanks, Carole

Glad I was a motivating force. I just crammed the bloody lot back inside and slammed the door.

OH wow! I have clothes too, that I just can't part with. Someday I'll describe them to you! I would love to have your clothes. My current crop is just jeans and t-shirts. Mostly...and hoodies. I don't dare go walking in Amerika. That's another story! Lol! This is perfectly written Ingrid! I really enjoyed this peek into your world... love you!! Susan

Well written story. Many people could assimilate with the same task at hand. Including me at times. Can't find anything I don't like or criticism.

Appreciate your visit. Thanks...impressed by your rating, perhaps I bored you.
Apologies for your sincere, but wasted time.

It was easy to picture not only the source of your concern but the mixed emotions attacking you as you sorted and tried to discard. The dress for the son's wedding - I hope the writer did her jig ON the dress. That would have been a spirit builder. Good job. No negatives.

Sure did, and added a little rock and roll to do the ultimate damage! Thanks for reading.

I went through this recently too. I have been sick the last year and a half and in the process have lost almost 110lbs. Going through my old 'fat' clothes has been so hard. Many of them I liked, but they hung on me like shapeless sacks.

Good Lord, 10 LBS through illness is also a catalogue of a horrific struggle between life and death.
If I survived something so devastating I couldn't care less what I wore, if I wore anything.
I'm so very, very sorry for your battle and I refuse to say congratulations for your weight loss, man you were lucky to have the flesh to fight the demon.
Sure hope you're feeling better now. If so shopping for clothes a dozen sizes smaller may be comforting, but no one will ever know what cost survival took in order to just go for a walk in the mall.
-
Assuming one has the energy to walk in the mall... the fight still isn't over, every day is still a battle... lost 12lbs in 5 days last week... hefty sacks of clothes going to the Goodwill... at least they'll be used by someone in need. Oh, well...
-
What is wrong?
I looked at your profile info and it sows birthdate of 82...was I right? Please tell me what prayers I can offer to the masters of the universe.
-
They don't know what is wrong... I was born in '72... will be 40 in 2 months. !!! Prayers? To be honest? For a swift and painless death. Truly. I am just too tired. I know it pushes everyone's buttons, but no one would condemn a person with a 'diagnosed' terminal condition for wishing for the release of ceasing to exist... at least I wouldn't.
-
I don't either. When the struggle to regain strength and find out the reasons for collapse or theft of courage and hope, inevitably the journey is solitary.
How can anyone really understand unless they have lived in the bubble of pain and sorrow.
Do yourself one favour, try to stay focused until they document, label or otherwise identify your demon.
If they don't have an answer and can't identify the leeches that are sucking out the strength, try to stay alive long enough to identify the enemy.
-
i keep trying
-
I am sure you are. If you need to write your story, find some cheerleaders, hunker down into truth and spill your guts.
I will listen.

Thanks... just posted...

You have obviously been peeking into my closet! Someday I will throw away the that suit with the huge shoulder pads from the eighties. I got a real kick out of this story. It was well written and witty.

I have things still tucked in the corners, skirts especially that I haven't worn, but hell, what if I need a skirt? We are all nuts, I'm sure.

Damn nice story. I like it from beginning to end. Indecision. Carried away by nostalgia and not being fully decided on what to give, the story goes on with a very surprise ending. After all the discarding and carding, eliminating one from the others, and the driver thought that it was not enough, the author decided to supplement it with a check. Very CHARITABLE. CONGRATULATIONS Spiritual Echo
