A very nice "message" about the WORD. I think the last line is confusing because you were talking about the "deceiver", then you switched to "faith in His word"... so it almost sounds like you have to have faith in the deceiver's word... a misplaced modifier there, even though I knew what you were talking about. it was a bit confusing temporarily.
A very nice poem, well written and I liked the breaks between the stanzas... very nice

I don't care for the word 'religion.' Faith is THE word. Faith in almost anything, not just a Supreme Being.
You found faith in yourself--a bible just happened to be the vehicle that enabled your trip. I don't know how many pits I have crawled out of---it is what is in your heart and head. Words are just that--words. The beginning, not the ultimate action---which lies with the individual.
A fine verse, excellently presented.

This is a powerful little poem friend, the visuals of the struggling strangled soul are dark and destructive but the mustard seed of light the grows from despair is a nice touch, great writing here...Very Nice! Good luck.
